why do most people beleive that just because they do good deeds and and just because there not killing or stilling they are going to heaven
now all thats good but if you dont have like the bible says your not going to heaven its the truth

Whenever I discuss my faith with my mother (always with her bringing it up) she always says the EXACT same thing, word for word..."I am a good person. I try not to hurt or harm anybody and I try to do the right thing. Don't worry about me, God and I are all right with each other." It hurts SO BADLY!!! I know that, as of now, I am the only member of my family (Mother and sisters) that will see heaven and it is a very lonely feeling sometimes. Heard a really goo explanation once of the relationship between God and sin...
An owners dog got out and rolled around in a dead carcass. When the dog came home, the owner could not let the dog in the house because of the stench. He still loved the dog, he still wanted good things for the dog, but he just couldn't be around the stench. So the owner had two choices...wash the dog and remove the stench and allow the dog back into his home, or leave the dog outside wallowing in its own stench. This is how God sees sin. He loves us and wants to cleanse us of the stench that sin leaves on us, but we have to come to Him for the cleansing. If we don't, then He cannot be around us in our filth and stench anymore than you could be around that stinky dog.

Why is it that so many Christians proclaim the only way into heaven is through the John 3:16 oath of fealty? Do you believe because you don't want to go to hell or to go to heaven?
HYPOTHETICALLY speaking, if it were proven to you with absolute certainty (thinking hypothetically may require an enormous effort from some Christians) that god does NOT exist, what would you do differently in your life?
God's existence is completely unimportant to me and I have no vested interest in whether or not he is. I live the life I do because it is the right thing to do, not for any heavenly reward. If you feel taking the fealty pledge somehow makes you a better person more worthy of the kingdom of god, what is it about your god that is so wonderful?
Instead of arguing over the admission requirements to heaven, why not live the type of life that you think is meaningful? Instead of complaining about the speck of dust in your neighbor's eye, why not remove that huge two by four from your eye? Actions speak volumes over words.

People believe they can get to heaven by being a good person because if not, then the idea of heaven is ludicrous. 4 billion people do not believe in God. No matter what, even if they'd never heard of him, they are going to hell? Some of them are better people than a lot of Christians who have "earned" the right to go to heaven or whatever. Mahatma Gandhi wouldn't be in heaven. That's insanity.

I do good deeds and try to be a good person because that's who I want to be, not for any reward or to get to heaven. People get caught up in following their rules and forget to be nice people...
I don't believe in heaven, or that if it existed I would deserve to go there. I also know lots of "born again Christians" who would agree with your statement but who having to live with would be hellish... Even if it were in "heaven"...

The Bible is not the only sources of inspiration in this world. God provides many. We should look for the best in spiritual ideas from all sources available. I don't believe the idea, that God rejects people who lead good lives, is a very good or highly spiritual idea. God is mainly interested in, how much you have contributed to addressing, the very serious problems we have in this world.

We read Revelations too, in which on Judgment Day, people are judged by their acts. The bad ones are chucked into a lake of fire. Presumably the good ones -- even if atheistic -- go to Heaven.

We are to ask God to give us wisdom. I for one believe the bible and have had God to grant me micriles. He stopped a tooth ache that after my wife laid hands on me and from the scriptures ;Mark 16:vs 15-18 .Those that are babhtised and believe shall lay hands onthe sick and they shall recover.
We also asked God to help us in getting a new home and we acquired a loan with a construction loan at an interest rate of 0 %.
The bible states that the only way to heaven is through Jesus.
Ask God to give you the answer.

I can't speak for "most people" but I myself believe that the way to Heaven is to believe in Jesus Christ and believe that he died for us. And though our works aren't what get us to heaven, they do however represent how strong our beliefs are and how much we want to live out Gods will. We will never be perfect, but we can strive for it until we achieve it in Heaven. You see, once you become saved, you want to be a better person, and sinning gives you guilt. You begin to see the world in a different way. Good Question.

So if the only prerequisite for access to heaven is to accept Jesus, then what incentive do people have to do good things?
This is a flawed rule, since it allows for consequence-free evil.
