It could be cradle cap. Apply a little Vaseline on the spots and let it sit for a little while. It should then come of easily with a little rubbing of a face cloth.

This is probably a case of a common condition called cradle cap. Basically, the oils get trapped along with dead skin cells. There are several things you can do for this and any other skin reaction. One thing is not to wash baby's head too often. Don't put anything on it. I wouldn't wash her head more than once a week using a very mild soap and not alot of it. Make sure that if she wears a hood or a hat that you don't keep it on her longer than necessary and wash them frequently. Make sure her bedding and anything that she lays her head on is sanitized too to minimize the possibility of any kind of infection developing. Also make sure not to lay her head on rough surfaces such as carpeting or anything that could cause a reaction such as feathers, or anything that is not clean. I'm sure this will clear up. Little ones get things like this and it's hard to figure out what to do because you want to stop it but many times things like this run their course and then go away. If it gets worse or she develops other symptoms of an allergic reaction such as hives definitely see your doctor. If she develops any breathing issues - this could be an allergic reaction - in that case go to the ER.

Cradle cap is a condition where the skin sheds from the scalp causing a thick flaky substance to come loose from the baby's head. I used baby oil on my son along with a fine toothed, soft comb to remove the dead skin and it helped within a few weeks. Be sure to shampoo that is very mild on her head and bathe her regularly. Best of luck!

Cradle cap. It's just skin...it's normal, but it does look a bit odd, and the other babies might make fun of her (I'm kidding :)

In all seriousness, Dove and Aveeno are mild, but they still contain additives which may be dangerous for your tiny baby. Remember, they were designed for adults.

Try California Baby products...they're very natural and wholesome.

My 5 month old ran into the same issue.
I know this sounds horrible, but you need to take one of "our" wash clothes, apply soap, and scrub lightly........make sure that you are using a very moisturizing lotion, especially right now (since its getting colder). This "dandruff" is because you are not getting the old, dead skin off daily, so it builds up!

It's what we used to call cradel cap. Just get a baby brush with silky soft bristles. Wash her scalp with that. It will loosen that stuff up. Rinse. Then put some lotion on her.
