I'm an a animal lover but prefer to live with cats - they don't need walkies and they bathe themselves lol...
I had my first family of 5 for around 22yrs - mum and dad who had 3 kittens - my last one died a yr ago and i was broken-hearted. I couldn't live without pets, so i found 2 girls through the cat action trust - they are 3yrs old and are adorable. I think you have to live with cats to appreciate them.
I grew up with dogs an had a white Pekingese and a collie.

I love both dogs and cats. I grew up surrounded by dogs and later cats. Since leaving home - many years ago - I have also had both. Dogs are wonderful to have and are a lot more work, whereas cats are more independant. I think if you work cats are preferable. To leave a dog unattended for 8 hours a day is unfair, and will probably result in a bored dog who could become a problem. Cats don't care if you're out for 8 hours they're asleep!!
So I think your lifestyle depends on the animal you should have in your home.

I love both, but choose to have cats because they can be left alone for long periods of time while I'm working.Grew up having dogs, have had cats for the past 25 years. When I retire, I'd like to adopt a retired Grey Hound. They are beautiful dogs.

I love both, we had a border collie years ago who we got from an animal rescue place. She was so well trained and gorgeous that when she died I knew I could never get another dog quite like her. We have 4 cats at home, who are possibly the most laziest, lovable cats ever, as I type Giz is trying to lie across my shoulders - he's a bit too big x

Whilst I tolerate friends dogs I will not let them slobber over my face.
Give me a cat every time.
Dogs have a volcabulary of about 10 words whilst the cat has 168 making it far superior.
Cats on a one to one basis are more affectionate than any dog can be.

Both. I grew up having both as pets and a house is definitely a home with a dog and a cat in it.

Some cats are alright... But you get a virus from them thats with you for life and decreases your IQ (that sounds stupid but its no joke. The reason I dont like some cats its because they wander off all day, come back and eat then sod off again. Not very grateful...

I love them both and currently have a dog but have had cats in the past. They are both great in their own way but I do find dogs much needier and so much more work....but worth it.
