How do you honestly feel about being invited to shopping parties for all kinds of products like Avon, Mk, Pampered Chef, Cabi, Creative memories, etc. Do you enjoy these parties or do you feel pressured to go?

Thank god! I was beginning to think I was the only one who hates those parties. I have tried declining politely but people always get offended so I always end up going and spending money on things I don't want or need just to be nice. Those parties suck. In my opinion there is no difference between hosting a shopping party and begging from your friends. Thanks for all the answers.

I hate them. I always feel pressured to go...just because it would be impolite not to, not because my friends are pushy. I also feel pressured to buy something when I do go too. The worst part is, the pushy sales lady that tries to get you to schedule another party. eh!

I only feel pressured to attend when invited by someone I don't really know well. My friends that I know well, never make me feel like it's a big deal if I either can't attend or basically just don't want to attend.
There is often the sense of pressure to buy something at these parties and that can be awkward if you're ordering something you'd have no real desire to buy otherwise.
I've been to some shopping parties and had a blast and a few that I couldn't wait to find my keys and leave ASAP.
My rule of thumb is always...if I enjoy the person giving the party and the product is interesting enough (and I'm not in a schedule crunch) I'll attend. If not I just politely decline and thank them for thinking of me.

I cannot stand them and never feel pressured to go. I just politely decline the invitation with no further explanation.

I hate them. My friends have pretty much learned not to ask me about them. I do use Mary Kay, and had to shop around to find a person who wouldn't pressure me to host a party (I absolutely and flatly refuse)

I don't like them. There's always the pressure from your "friend" to buy from them. If they were not a friend, I don't think I would have bought anything.

Depends on who and why and when really. Some of them are okay but I don't feel pressurised to buy - I wont allow it! So what if people think I am stingy...I just might not want anything.

I like them! As long as there is good food, and not cr*ppy, stale chips & canned salsa passing for "snacks". Gimmee some GOOD food.

I feel pressured to purchase, which is not a good feeling.

Sometimes it's ok but sometimes I feel like they are trying to brainwash me, especially Mary Kay. I like to try new stuff but I don't like that they try to convince you to become sales reps.
