My husband is currently in IRAQ and he wants me to do some research on private cabins or something to that affect. We have been married for 4 years and we have yet to have a honeymoon due to his job and deployment. He has been gone for 5 months and has 8 more to go. When he comes home he wants to have a weekend get away with just me.....no kids!!!! So we were wondering if there was a website or something that could tell us what kind of places do military discounts. Honestly he wants a private cabin in the moutians. If anyone can give me some help i would apperciate it. Thanks so much!!

Your cheapest bet would be to check with the MWR/ITT office at your base. There are a lot of facilities that the military owns and maintains for service members. We've done everything from seaside cabins to campgrounds to Yellowstone National Park campers with them. Free or reduced cost. Or check your exchange to see if they have to facilities books.

Next best would be the http://www.afvclub.com/. Thier major limitation is wanting you to book by the week but if you can work around that with your schedule they have a lot of options.

Well your best bet is to find that private cabin and whoever owns it and ask if they can offer you some sort of discount. My husband and I went on a cruise when he got back and they offer military discounts, but it was a HUGE company!!! (Royal Caribbean)

There are a couple Armed Forces hotels in vacation areas.. Shades of Green in Florida and then the one in Hawaii. There's a club called armed forces vacation club, http://www.afvclub.com/, that offers pretty decent discounts on vacation packages for service members. Definitely check with the local MWR office where you are, they usually have books full of places that offer package discounts

Here are 3 places that come to mind. Military One Source is staffed 24 hours a day and will answer ANY question. But I attached the link to where it talks about travel options. I saw a link on the militaryonesource.com site for Armed Forces Vacation Club...never heard of it but check it out!! Good luck!

Hale Koa hotel in Honolulu--especially for military, and it's BEAUTIFUL!!!

Or--Bellows air station which is not really an air station anymore, but it's a gorgeous beach where you can get a cabin or pitch a tent--it's also on Oahu.

Take an AMC flight to get there.

Check the ITR (information, ticketing, registration) office on post. I don't know if the website www.offduty.com is still up.
You might want to contact your MRW as well or chech with www.militaryonesource.com

all you can do is contact the places you are interested in and ask if they offer a military discount. No one is required to.

Talk to your base's MWR center. They should be able to direct you in the right direction.
