what happens to a person's soul after it leaves the dead body?
is it true that it survives and finds total freedom?
We should not be affraid of death and accept it the way it comes??? What do true believers in God think?

Your soul is buried with you or cremated along with your body. Who will save your soul? Not Jewel and definitely not a higher power. Rest in peace!!!

The Bible clearly says that the soul dies. It does not go to heaven or hell (hell does not even exist yet). All dead people are dead in their graves, awaiting the resurrection. Here is a verse from the Bible that clearly states this:

"As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, ... every living soul belongs to me.... The soul who sins is the one who will die." Ezekiel 18:3-4 (Also see Ezekiel 18:20; Revelation 16:3)

"All that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth." John 5:28,29

Think of it this way:
Body (Dust) - Breath (Spirit) = Death (No Soul).
In Genesis when God breathed the breath of life into the body, man became a living being, (Genesis 2:7) and death is the exact opposite of that process. (The translation of the word spirit in the Bible is breath of life).

I recommend reading the study guide below called "Are the Dead Really Dead?", it explains everything in much more detail.

You need a handle on physics when you are talking about death and the afterlife. First, when you die, you pass from the boundaries of space-time into timelessness. When Adam died, he did not "sleep" as we understand sleep. The moment Adam died he entered timeless eternity. The next moment, the entire of earth's history has played out and the judgment has begun.
Sleep is sort of like that. When you sleep, time seems to pass by in a moment. Ever gone a night without sleep? It is like the night lasts forever. In the eternal, time has no hold and no limitation. As we live in these bodies, time drags on. But upon our death, click, the world's scenario has already played out. What happens after the judgment depends on what you decide in the here and now.

Hebrews 9:27-28
...it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

After death all souls are sent to a holding place called BARZAGH. I don't know the word in English for Barzagh.
Soul are made to sleep there until the end of world. When humans will be resurrected, souls will be awakend and put back into their original bodies. Souls will feel like they slept only few hours like we do in our life here.

I personally believe it goes through a tunnel into God's everloving light and goes to the other side where it's greeted by loved ones that passed. There it is pure paradise.

Read books by Sylvia Browne, she has a great concept on the afterlife.

Hope it goes somewhere nice anyway. Bummer to just evaporate. Thats if there is such a thing as a Soul in the first place. Could be just a nice way to keep us good and hopeful.

The Bible tells us that there is not only life after death, but eternal life so glorious that “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9). Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, came to the earth to give us this gift of eternal life. “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).

Sadly, the only people you're asking are alive at the minute. If we had any conclusive answers on this one, I'm sure we would have heard by now. But then, that's why it's a 'belief', not a 'fact'.

Still, if any not-alive people are reading this, I too would be interested in the answer.

Take your time...
