Well, the sense of a vile temptress is different, of course, for everyone. On one hand, a vile temptress MIGHT be a gal who dresses in a certain manner, and tries to lure young boys, say 12 or so, to do things that aren't age appropriate. That's one definition.

Another is any woman who dresses or acts in a manner that would make a man want to do things that he normally wouldn't do, in a carnal sense. The reason this definition is so lame is that if you are a guy...a normal guy, anyway, there is very LITTLE that you wouldn't "normally" do if there's enough black lace and exposed cleavage involved.

Still another is any woman who dares to have a thought other than that of the male that owns her. Again, this is problematic in our society, since ostensibly, owning a female, beyond livestock, is illegal.

Finally, it's a term that is used by males who simply can't control themselves, can't be responsible for themselves, and don't want to be held accountable for their actions. These women, whether they are 85 with a walker, or 14 and in middle school, tempt men by simply existing. Men like this believe they are vile temptresses because it's a whole lot easier than admitting their lack of morals, ethics and self control.

In general, it has been used to refer to women whom men simply cannot keep their hands off of. They are called "vile temptress" because the men are attempting to project the blame onto the woman. (Eve is a well known VT for her alleged tempting of Adam into eating the fruit of knowledge, so it's not always sexual.)

In R&S, a certain user Chosen By Grace, who employs quite colorful language in his personal emails, has labeled some of our esteemed members as VTs. Others have taken up the cause as fellow VTs because there ain't nothing to be ashamed of if you're a vile temptress.

To try to make a long story short, a while ago, there was a certain fundie on here who was renowned for sending abusive, ranting e-mails to people, going on reporting rampages, and posting questions insulting users by name. (He's also known for his prolific use of the word "hypocrite".) Anyway, one day he went on an abusive rant, and started calling some of the ladies on here (props to Rachel, Pangel, & GorgeousTXTemptress...) "Vile Temptresses". It was meant as an insult, but the ladies embraced the insult, and they and other ladies on R&S got together and started adding it (or "VT") to their avatars in a show of solidarity.

I, personally, added it to my avatar when the fundie in question posted a question insulting me by name.
