If you run in the morning, and if YOU DIDN'T EAT ANYTHING BEFORE YOU RUN, there are benefits.
since your body depletes its carbohydrate storage overnight, running first thing in the morning will target the fats dead-on. No need to lift weights before-hand or put in 20 minutes of cardio to deplete your carbohydrate storage, you will burn fat calories as soon as you get on that treadmill!
the definite benefits of running in the morning (without eating anything) is that...
1. since carbs are the first line of your body's energy, and because you have no carbs, it goes STRAIGHT FOR THE FAT
2. it saves time. no need to waste time depleting your carbs.
3. it heightens your metabolism throughout the day
debateble benefits...
1. it curves hunger for some individuals... (arguable)

personally if I work out in the morning it kinda ruins my day, I like to let stress build up all day and then release it at the gym (running), it seems like I'm more focused and get a better workout when I go at night.
I think it's a personal preference, the only thing I can think of is if your body has been absorbing carbs and calories all day it's probably easier to burn those at night, as opposed to running on empty in the morning and burning muscle for energy.

If you mean it as in, beneficial as opposed to other times of day - yes. If you run near roadways, there is much less pollution to contend with early in the morning before the commutes begin.

Yes, you will feel great, fresh, and clean (if you take a shower afterwards, that is), and you will have gotten it out of the way, not resisting to go for excersize later in the day, after a working day at work.
Best of luck!

Gives you more energy, better mood (exercising releases endorphins) and helps boost the immune system (any time of day really).
