I served 6 years in the SD National Guard and 3 years in the US Navel Reserve. The only active time I had besides BASIC and AIT was my annual 2 weeks and 1 weekend a month.

Yes, you are considered to be a Veteran. Even if you were on in the reserves or national guard. You served your time to your country so you should be honored as a veteran.

According to the Veterans Administration you are a Veteran but have very limited benefits. For benefits like health care, home loans, etc, you have to have served at least 24 months on active duty unless you entered the service before 1980.
You can determine this at this site: http://www.va.gov/healtheligibility/eligibility/DetermineEligibility.asp

If you served in any of the Armed Forces you are a veteran. You don't have to be active duty to be considered one. Thanks for your service!
