There has been life on this planet for billions of years, humans have been on the planet for about 250,000 years. Before human's could come up with the idea of good and evil, was there good and evil? Was it evil for animals to kill and eat eachother for survival. Even in the bible, in genesis, God creates the animals first, then Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve only learned about good and evil when they ate the apple from the tree that gives them the knowlege of right and wrong. So was there right and wrong before humans existed?

Still[[hopefull]]k - Most comets don't start to come near the sun untill their orbit is knocked out of wack by collisions in the outer solar system, and most comets are so huge that they don't lose much weight compared to their total weight, when they pass by the sun. Also, the ozone is shrinking because of man made reasons. The earth increased it's rotational speed when a proto planet the size of mars slammed into it at an angle; the debree of which came together and gave us the moon, and the days then were only ten hours long. And finally, it's not just carbon dating of rocks that tell us the earth is billions of years old, nuclear physics, astronomy, biology, geology, etc... all tell us the earth is billions of years old. It's not a mass conspiracy the scientists have come up with, it's fact. So you might want to look up these facts before you start believing some religious sites that have no scientific basis for telling us the earth is less than 10,000 years old.

I personall dont believe that the world was around for billions of years.. ill explain..

1. The world spins on its axis. And it slows down with time. If the world was billions of years old... it would have been spinning so fast that nothing could stay on it. not even plants.

2. comets go around the sun.. and each time they go around the sun, they melt a little each time if it was billions of years old.. by now.. they would be gone.. or would have been so big they couldnt go anywhere :P

3. Also the ozon layer decreases each year (just a little) so if the earth was billions of years old then the ozon layer would be so thick the nothing would be able to live.

if you read the bible and track the lives of everyone then you would know that it even claims the earth isnt that old. Also scientists check rocks and such to see how old they are. if you goole that stuff you might find a site on it that shows that they are wrong.. they just dont want people to know.

and yes there was wrong and right "before humans" in heaven. The devil was an angel (before all was created) who rebelled agains God. So there was evil before the earth. and I'm sure there was good.

Wow good question. Think about it. Everything that comes from God is good. Before Adam and Eve disobeyed his only commandment, at the time, the bible says that everything that God had made was good. Basically my point is anything that is evil has nothing to do with God. The Bible also says that God is love since this is true, it would be contradicting if he himself made something evil and told us to stay away from it. In other words evil was created here on earth when sin was introduced to man-meaning when Adam and Eve disobeyed God. Hope I didn't confuse you more. lol L8rs

There was YIN and Yang - two forces acting in balance. In fact there still is. Moral society have renamed these forces to good and evil.

Like what you've just said, Adam and Eve learned about good and evil only after eating the fruit but does not mean that right or wrong was absent prior to that.

A baby was born into this world, so innocent that to his view it's all about laughter and cute little smiles.

God is absolute, eternal, unchanging and one.therefore, His will must also be absolute, eternal, unchanging and one. What is His will? For Adam and Eve NOT to eat the fruit bec by obeying His Words, God's Ideal of creation, which is the establishment of the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth and in the spirit world can be realized. God needs man's participation in order to establish His Kingdom and this can only happen if Adam and Eve will obey the word of God NOT to eat the fruit.

The fact that God said to Adam and Eve NOT to eat it only indicates that by disobeying His words and eating it would result to evil. This was clear to Adam and Eve. There is no need for them to eat the fruit just to know what is good and what is evil.

It is like, I don't need to do drugs just to know how evil it is and harmful it is to me. The fact that my parents and other concern fellowmen tells me that it is bad, then I won't do it or even try doing it.

But why is it that inspite of God's warning, not to mention the death punishment, Adam and Eve still ate it? And why is that serpent, symbolized by the Archangel Lucifer, who was once so closed and the right hand of God, tempted Eve to eat it? Is there really such a literal fruit that is work risking our lives? or was it only a symbolic fruit? Something that represents a very extremely stimulating action that even by doing it Adam and Eve was willing to risk their very lives and won't have a care what God would feel?

I will state my answer next time. Good luck to your search for the truth

The struggle for good and evil was before human kind...

God cast the devil out for disobedience and trying to take over heaven...and he had some followers as well.....

the devils beauty was prideful....and that corrupted him....

then when man was made....and formed male and female...it was the devils knowledge and craftiness with words...that decieved Eve.....all he did was change what God said...with one word...and Eve's natural mind...and intelect....couldnt just accept commen sense....thus was decieved..cause she tried to reason it out............and she pertook and gave to adam as well.........thus Evil of disobedience entered the human race...and man feel from Gods protection and grace..and gave away thier rights to evil............Thats why GOD....had to come...and Reddem man back to HIMSELF........That only Through HIM cause there was NO other Greater........He formed a Fleshly body to die.....to be sacrificed once and for all bring us back unto Himself...............and that He did !!!!

And then He arose and with that,,,He now lives..we to can live also....He defeated Death which entered the world through mans disobedience.......and is now obolished from the True Believer................and when man feel..so did all of creation....even the animals were affected by it.....thus turning on one another to survive and be feed.......but even that one day will change...with the lion laying down with the lamb....and peace as it once was in the garden at the beginning!!.

the short answer is yes. Satan pre-existed Adam and Eve and fell from heaven before visiting them in the Garden of Eden.

But if the biblical account is true (and I believe it is) then animals were all vegetarians before Adam and Eve ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Calis - interesting that you make the point the earth would be about 10,000 years old if there were just two humans to start with. I think the earth is closer to 6,000 years old, but hey, 10,000 is in that ballpark.

There's lots of factoids like that to 'prove' a young earth.

There always has been good and evil, it was just a matter of when the question was brought up. That's how God created us, in the likeness of himself, with the exception of free will. Take another at Lucifer, once a servant to God, until he blasphemed him, and God threw him into Hell. Even before The Big Bang, there was Good and Evil. Hope that helps:)

Right or wrong, god or devil, black or white those are the concept of human. For animal which they hungry to eat, full to play or sleep, we cannot say right or wrong.
I remember a little child said to his father why the animal steal my grass in my backyard. (Before this, his father saw him to eat an apply which dropped from his neigbour backyard )and his father told him not to steal the neigbour's apply which belong to neigbour.
Stealing is evil but it is not the nature rules.
It is the rule for people only and even not for animal.
I doubt to know Adam and Eve ate the apple and would committed sin. There must be a translation mistake. If it is the fruit of the tree represent clarification of sin and holy, will be more reasonable.
It is because the clarification of sin and holy will be different standpoints to different people then become arguement, and fight and kill. That is the sin origin.

Yes. I assume you read the Bible since you mentioned Adam and Eve and "the fall of man." I'm a Christian, so that's the perspective I'm coming from. The Biblical explanation is that there WAS evil before Adam and Eve. Remember, it was Satan who tempted Eve (when he was in the form of a snake). Also, there is an account of how Lucifer became Satan, but I don't recall where that is in the Bible.

From an atheistic standpoint there could not have been. From a theistic standpoint there had to have been because satan did something to get god P.O.ed enough to whip up on him and cast him to the earth. One has to assume that the act was evil and therefore evil existed prior to Adam and Eve. Since satan was privy to the knowledge of good prior to his fall, he had to have brought that with him as well.
