I love having a baked potato for dinner sometimes, but I always hear mixed reviews on them because of their high starch and carb values. If I'mnot watching carb intake, are they okay to eat?? Plain, no butter or s.cream.

It depends on how much and how often you have them. You should never have too much of anything.

Potatoes are loaded with carbs, but it's not bad to have one once in a while. Just keep the sour cream and butter on a lower level.

One a week won't kill you anyway. Yes, they are very high on the glycemic index, but you can slow down the conversion by upping your fiber intake.
The problem comes when you eat high glycemic foods to the exclusion of others and don't ingest enough fiber - such as eating fast food fries 2-3x a week as well as potato chips and baked potatoes and no fruits and vegetables.
