For instance:

Genesis 3:19 - "In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; you are dust, and to DUST YOU SHALL RETURN."

Ecclesiastes 9:5,6,10 - "5 For the living know that they will die, but THE DEAD KNOW NOTHING, and they have no more reward; but the memory of them is lost.
6 Their love and their HATE and their ENVY have ALREADY PERISHED, and they have no more for ever any share in all that is done under the sun
10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there IS NO work or THOUGHT or KNOWLEDGE or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going."

Psalms 146:3,4 - "3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help 4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; IN THAT VERY DAY HIS THOUGHTS PERISH."

First of all, if I see no scriptures being quoted to support anything you're preaching, I'm going to assume you're full of the teachings of a mere man.

Second, Robin, are you pointing out that God, the supposed writer of the Bible, changed his mind after his people were in Babylon because of the teachings of a pagan religion that he abhorred?? Hm.

The concept of storing treasures in heaven etc could be taken metaphorically rather than literally. And the scripture from John is Jesus talking to John alone, not to all who read the Bible.

Yes, "hell" is just an earthen burial, nothing more. Christians have contorted the word.

First of all. Death in a lot of scripture that you have is spiritually dead. Another thing.. Is when we die we go to an INTERMEDIATE heaven or an INTERMEDIATE hell. It's not till after the tribulation period that the lord will create heave *on earth*, Read revulations. here is some scripture about life after death...

Mathew 5:12 "Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great;

Mathew 6:20 "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys,
and where thieves do not break in or steal;

2Co 5:6-8 Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the
body we are absent from the Lord-- (7) for we walk by faith, not by sight-- (8) we are of good courage, I
say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.

John 14:2 "In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you;
for I go to prepare a place for you.

The things of God are spiritually discerned. The Holy Spirit would help you to recognize when the scripture is talking about the spiritual man or the body of man. The body is destructible and will eventually return to dust. The spirit (soul) is eternal and will go on to live either in hell or heaven depending on the soul's standing with God. There are plenty of scriptures that discuss the afterlife of the soul, just as there are those that discuss the body's returning to the earth.

The Bible and Jesus teaches that each physique in the grave Sleep. Many pastors say: To be absent from the physique is to be modern-day with the Lord. yet nowhere does it say: you're absent from the physique once you die. After Christ regulations the Earth for 1000 years then comes the judgment and then all who're in the grave would be modern-day with the Lord. there will be a generic Resurrection of people who died in Christ and that they'll continuously be with the Lord. no longer all will sleep yet some alive in Christ gets replaced in the twinkle of a watch. The lifeless in Christ will upward thrust first and then we who're left and alive would be joined in Heaven To be with the Lord continuously.. Glory be to God and Jesus.

When they were conquered by the Babylonians, some of them were forced to live in Babylon for 70 years (the Captivity). There was religion practiced there (Zoroastrianism) that taught about a good god and an evil god in conflict with each other, Judgment Day, heaven, hell, demons, angels, etc. When they returned to Israel, they brought these ideas back with them.

Death is not always used as physical death. It refers to those who are spiritually dead. The famous John 3:16. "For those who belive in him will have everlasting life." For a Christian it means absent from the body, and present with the Lord.

This is Old Testament and the wages of sin is death with no hope for eternal life, but Jesus came into the world and went to the Cross. And everything changed.

The "explanation" is in The Promise of God to those of His Church... Those of The Church will not die.

Heaven is the destination of all who receive God's free gift of Salvation... Death is the fate of those who reject God and His free gift.
