Adam was working in another part of the garden every day and Eve was left alone. The book of Jasher(which is quoted twice in the Bible) gives much more detail about Eve's encounter with Nakesh, the 'snake in the grass' fellow .The word 'serpent' means shining man or enlightened one, and their discussions were over a long period of time. No doubt Eve told Adam about this new man in her life. He was very smart, and probably good-looking, and he spent time with Eve while Adam worked every day.
Nakesh finally suceeded in secuding Eve by telling her that her eyes would be opened to a whole new world of knowledge, and she would not die if she disobeyed God. Well, we know how that turned out. But this was all part of God's perfect plan to let man learn from experience...'good and evil'. It seems every generation is still learning the 'hard' way.
We refuse to listen to our earthly parents , we rebel against God's advice, and we wonder where we are going, and why we are carrying a hand basket.

He was supposedly standing right there, in my bible it doesnt really clarify but my vibe from it is that he wasnt but people say he was.
John Eldridge talks in his books about how Adam as the first husband and man didnt stop what was going on and all men have a scar from that, as all women supposedly have a scar from Eve for her tempting Adam into her sin.
Anna Katherine Emmerick supposedly had visions, the movie The Passion of The Christ was based on her visions of the crucification which is why it was controversial in the eyes of some christians, I am not sure what she says about that, I forgot, but I will ask my mom cause she has her books and Ill put it on here later.

Right there with her according to your bible...
Genesis 3:1-6
Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’” The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! “For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.

You know, of course, the Bible does not offer that insight.
He was simply elsewhere.
Do you wish to have us think he should have chained her down?
