Always be aware of who and what is around you...walk with your head up and eyes moving. Do not open your car windows or house door to anyone that you do not know and keep doors locked. Do not wear flashy clothes or jewelry. Stay in groups going to bars or clubs at night and walk to your car or the bus stop at work with other co workers. Carry your keys in your hand when going to your house or car and carry a cell phone.
Wear sensible shoes...though heels make a good weapon, you are better off being able to run. Take some self defense classes to learn to stand up for yourself, defend your self and be able to live with the fear not in fear.

Lock car- keep sharp peripheral vision (cant spell that) look behind me.. walk fast and confidently. dont try to compete with other drivers on the road.
