Yes and I always stroke the dogs too. In fact at my sons school parents usually bring their dogs cos their is a huge field right beside it and they let them have a run about. I know the dogs better than the parents and I always get a lovely hello from them. I was thinking of buying my favourites a christmas pressie.lol

There is a lovely black tom cat in my street. If you stroke him, he follows you. Earlier on this year, he followed me into my house and I had to throw him out. Since then, I have had a lady cat decide to stay with me. The tom has been visiting via the back garden, but sadly, mine arches her back and hisses at him.

Yes, if it will allow me to. In additon to making a new friend, I like to check to see that the cat appears to have a home, etc. If the cat is not friendly then it runs long before I get within range.

The only cat I ever saw in the street was dead:( I felt compelled to pet it, but I didn't. It was a disturbing sight and feel horrible that the poor kitty got run over.

Yes lol, but only if it lets me. I walk slowly towards it - if it starts to back off then i turn around and carry on walking. But then im good with cats, out of 10 cats i approach only 1 would back away.

Nope.. you never know what the cat could have. Sometimes a cat will rub up against your legs and it's very hard NOT to pet them, but you really shouldn't. The cat could be bi-polar and attack you once you get near (I'm not joking, I have one). I just say Hi and walk away.

There are certain things that I like to stroke (alot) and certain things that I do not, and a street cat is not one of them. A clean cat yes.

It all depends on the appearance of the cat [whether it looks sick/homeless] and whether it looks owned or not. Then the personality of the cat is also. Some cats don't like being petted.

I used to until I got ringworm that way. Now I just leave it alone. I used to always feed this one cat that would make its way onto my balcony at my old apartment and then that had to stop too because I realized I wasn't just feeding him I started feeding the whole stray cat community.

Absolutely not. There are too many risks involved -microbaterial infections (Cat Scratch Fever, etc.), parasites, not to mention just a nasty bite. If it's a kitten, though, that's a different story. You might need to rescue it!
