Okay, I live in a very, very small town and there is only one place that i can have my reception. It is very nice with a dance floor and many tables that include table cloths, silverware, etc.
We have already gone and looked at the site and decided how we will decorate it. It's the perfect place for a reception, the only problem is.....
They only book events 30 days in advance!!!!!!!
What should i do?? I don't want to put this place on my invitations, then figure out its already booked!!! I'm so stressed about the situation, any advice!?!?!

The way I see it...money talks! You need to contact someone who has the authority to work with you and make exceptions to the rules. Tell them you can stop by that very day and pay him to hold the building. Then get a contract, written by yourself in DETAIL, and signed by the both of you. Give a copy to him and a copy for yourself.
Wow, what a DUMB business those people are running.
Sweet talk them, honey...like I said...money talks!

Hi. I live in a small town too, but maybe not as small as yours!
Anyway...if it's the ONLY place, what have other people in your town done? Obviously, this place has been booked before for weddings. I can't believe ANY place has a policy like that. I would talk to the MAYOR if I had to!!! Come on....people need a place to book a wedding. What is this place...a VFW Hall or Knights of Columbus Hall? Whomever owns this or runs it....try to talk with the person at the TOP and let them know your concerns.
Good luck!

Is there anyway that you could talk to the owners of this hall and see if they can make an exception. If you are willing to pay for it upfront, with a contract saying if you back out on the date you will still be charged...they may be more apt to book in advance. I know lots of places that will not book in advance because people back out and then they end up losing money, because they previously declined other people since the date was booked.

I would go all the way to the top - to the owner. If that doesn't work then I would go to any local officials you have and discuss their business practices with them. If it truly is a small town then surely someone who knows the owner can knock some sense into them.
You may want to consider renting a tent and having an outdoor party - to avoid this place.

Talk to them about it. If this is the ONLY place, I'm sure they make exceptions for weddings. They have to. If they refuse to make the exception, think outside of the box and look into nice restaurants, theaters or even someone's really nice backyard that can host your reception.

Why don't you have the reception at home. That will be nice or try the next town over.

Ask how it has worked for past weddings.
Ask if there is an additional fee that you can pay to reserve the date now.
Be there when they unlock the door 30 days before, to make sure they have the date.

That's pretty dumb on their part! If you give them their deposit, what do they care if it's even a year from now? They sure don't run their business properly.
Can you find someone else in a nearby town?
