We can get a group of 100 randomly selected people, and have them write stories about their day to day lives, then have it all justified by an imaginary being, and a homeless guy who travels around the desert in search of food and water. I'm sure they will be pretty amazed when they will read it. I'm sure they will accept it as truth just like people accept the bible as truth.

Why not, they buy into the other story. Education has nothing to do with what people believe and don't believe.
A hundred years ago, intelligent persons, including doctors believed that you could "mark" your baby by simply seeing a deformity at a side show.
So, in 2,000 years, they are liable to believe in just about anything strange & off the wall.

Like the famous watch scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Pocket watch you can buy for 10 bucks. Bury it in the sand for a thousand years, and it becomes priceless when found.

The same thing could happen with a Stephen King novel. Like "The Stand" for instance.
