Their teachings are very twisted. They think that Father God was once a man. They think that Jesus is not the Father God. The only God that has ever been a man has always been also fully God Jesus Christ.
Father God has never been a man, other than as Jesus. And Jesus has ALWAYS been God. He is the Alpha and Omega = God of Abraham.

God the Father is not a man, nor was He ever (Numbers 23:19, 1 Samuel 15:29, Hosea 11:9). He is Spirit (John 4:24), and Spirit is not made of flesh and bone (Luke 24:39).
There is only One true God (Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 43:10, 44:6-8). He always has and always will exist (Deuteronomy 33:27, Psalm 90:2, 1 Timothy 1:17), and that He was not created, but is the Creator (Genesis chapter1, Psalm 24:1, Isaiah 37:16).

There really isn't a solid answer to this question. Though it's an age old question for sure.
Genesis 1:27 says: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
This says God is male because they say "His". But then it goes on to say that he created male and female in his own image....so if he created female in his own image...how would he not be...technically.... both...
The bible was written during a time when women were still of a lower class. So if the bible had been written and there would have been mention of God being a women...how seriously do you think people would have taken it?
I found this website that's actually a pretty good read....
http://www.extremelysmart.com/insight/God/GodsGender.php
....It says "God is spirit; God has no physical body. God is omnipresent, meaning that there is no place, no time, and no concept from which God is absent. God is simultaneously on the other side of the Universe, 30 billion light-years away, and God is inside all the atoms of your body. God is inside the protons and electrons, the quarks, the strings of which you are composed. God is inside neutrinos. God suffuses the Universe even more thoroughly than water suffuses a goldfish bowl......God is imaged in many forms in the Bible — a rock, a wind, she-bears, even a little red hen (Matt. 23:37, Luke 13:34). The Bible describes God as a seamstress (Gen. 3:21); possessing a womb (Jer. 31:20, Isa. 46:3-4); as a woman in labor (Deut. 32:18, Isa. 42:14 John 3:3-7); as a nursing mother (Isa. 49:15, Num. 11:11-14); as a mother with her weaned child (Ps. 121:1-2); as a comforting mother (Isa. 66:11-12, Hos. 11:1-4,8-9); as a mother bear (Hos. 13:6-8); and as a midwife (Ps. 22:9), among many other feminine images. Read Paul R. Smith's Is It Okay To Call God Mother? Considering the Feminine Face of God (Peabody, MA: Hendrickson Publishers, 1993) for a thorough discussion of this issue by a Southern Baptist preacher."
So I would say God is Neither male nor female...yet both at the same time. :o)
In the Christian religion / faith it is said that God is both man and women. Does that mean he is of flesh and blood? We have no way of knowing.
I'm not really that familiar with The Book Of Numbers but It sound Christian in orientation. (Correct me if i'm wrong please) and if the book of numbers says God is not a man

This is just one more added inconsistancy with Mormon teaching. Not only does it contradict the verse that tells us God is a spirit but they offers no explanation for the many verses scattered thoughout the old and new testament which shows us that there no Rock other than our God and if you were to even entertain the idea God was once a man where did he come from and who was the first God. Again this clearly defies all scriptural teaching which are explicit in teaching there is no other God other than our God. Mormons often confuse the issue by quoting the verse where Jesus quotes the verse know ye not ye are gods. The problem with this is they fail to realise that the false gods in the old testament were also referred to as gods and even Satan in the new testament is referred to the god of this world who blinded the minds of those who believe not. 2 Corinthians 4:4. Does this mean that Satan is God? Obviously not. In fact when you look at the book of Genesis you find Satan tempting Adam and Eve with the belief if they eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil they would become like God. So was Satan the truth teller and God cheating them out of something? The bible refers to Satan as the father of lies who interestingly enough bought into this lie himself. Isaiah 14:12 How you have fallen from heaven O morningstar , son of the dawn, you have been cast down to the earth, you who have once laid low the nations, you said in your heart I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of the assembly; upon the utmost heights of the sacred mountain, I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the most High...Clearly this belief in becoming God is Satanic in origin. Verses that show God is one Isaiah 43:10-11 Before me thee was no God that was formed, neither shall there be after me. I even I am the Lord; and beside me there is o saviour Isiah 44:6 I am the first and the last beside me there is no other God Isaiah 44:8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? Yea there is no God; I know not any. deuteronomy 6:4 says God is one. Just a few of the many verses which show the Mormon claim is is entirely baseless and anti-scriptural. Isaiah 42:8 I am the Lord that is my name I will not give my glory to another. Psalm 86:10 For you alone are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. Mark 12:32 Well said teacher the man replied you are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 2 Samuel 22:32 For who is God beside the Lord? and who is the Rock except our God? Psalm 18:31 For who is God beside the Lord? and who is the Rock except our God?

NO! God of the Bible was not a man in the beginning. God is going to be God ALWAYS. And no one else cannot be God but Him. God came here on the earth as human, Jesus. But Jesus is the sae God as the Father, and Jesus was also fully God. Word became flesh John 1:14

Ask God thru prayer; he should be the one to know who he is.
However, the scripture you quote, Numbers 23:19, can be interpreted to actually "support" that God was a man. Look at where the commas are placed in the sentence. If you take the commas out, it reads that "God is not a man who should lie." In other words, he is a man who does not lie. Or, he is not a son of man that needs to repent. Both those statements certainly support Mormon doctrine.
The original Greek and Hebrew texts of the Bible did not have commas.

I believe, personally, that Jesus Christ was God incarnate.
That his body was fully man, but his spirit, the part of him that made him different from a banana, was fully God.
His body was man, but just a body, men have spirits, of men, in the image of God. His spirit was fully God spirit, and not a man's spirit.
I do believe God is an alien, in the sense that he is not of this world, but believing he is from another planet and then became a God, thats just silly.
Thanks for the question it was enlightening, I hope my answer made some sense.

Do you really believe in God? Or do you believe science? That is my problem. I can't decide what to believe in... I believe we are all figures of evolution, but what started that?
Is the catholic / christian religion a real religion organized during the time of "Jesus"? Or is it a cult? Created by men of imagination?
Think about this, if someone of todays world came out and said he was jesus, taught people the word of God and supposidly risen from the dead would he be believed as "the son of God" or would he be thought as a insane illusionist?
Many people in the time of God saw many things that may have looked a certain way, but only because of their unintelligence in mere science, or possible illusions.
I'm not saying I don't believe in God or a "Creator" I am saying that many things that are said to be true in Catholic religion would seem faulty if created today.

Dear Edge,
Your verse is not applicable. In that verse, God is clearly referring to man as a mortal, imperfect being. That, He is not. Besides, it is Jehovah, the premortal Jesus that is speaking, not the Father.
Besides, in other places, Christ is referred to as the Son of Man. That is clarified by adding Man of Holiness as a name of God, therefore, Christ is the Son of Man of Holiness.
The scriptures clearly point out that we can become joint heirs with Christ in all that the Father hath. We become as He is. If we are on an eternal scale of progression, it is reasonable to know that God progressed before us. Therefore, as man is, God once was and as God is, man may become. It is a glorious goal for all of God's children. Does that mean that we will be equal to Him. No, we will never catch up and be equal with Him because as we attain unto Celestial Glory, He also continues to progress. As the parent obtains glory from the accomplishments of the children, so also, our immortality and exaltation enhances His exaltation.
