Well, it isn't good for them. Bathing them in water:
1) Drys out their skin. (Cracked, dry skin invites skin infections.)
2) Makes them unnecessarily cold. The fur on cats is very different from the fur on dogs and other animals. Look at pictures of wet cats vs wet dogs and you'll see the difference. Cats do not have the same type of hair that keeps air pockets for insulation. That's why wet cats look like drowned rats.
Personally, I don't recommend bathing a cat for any reason other than a catastrophe!

Cats can be bathed, and if your cats enjoy it, you are one of the luckiest cat owners around. If you have cats that are indoor-outdoor, you can tell by looking when they need it. But even indoor cats profit from a bath every couple of months or so. It removes the loose hair that would fall out as shed, decreases the dander, and just makes their fur fresher and more beautiful. You can just kind of tell by looking at them that it's time for a bath. There is absolutely no harm to them, provided you use a safe shampoo (one they can lick -- i.e., ingest -- without eating dangerous chemicals), like a cat shampoo or a liquid castile soap. And be sure they are kept in a warm environment when they are drying.

Cats are very clean, naturally. The only time I would bathe them is if there is a reason, like they got into something or something got on them. Otherwise, you should not bathe them even more often than twice a year.

Cats clean themselves so to keep them in this habit don't do so more then once a month or they will stop cleaning themselves and they will get immensely dirty. If they enjoy it it shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't it too frequently and the shampoo you use doesn't dry out their skin. Watch for more scratching then normal as a sign of dry skin, if this happens stop or try a different shampoo.

Have had indoor only cats for nearly 25 years and have never bathed them. They take care of it themselves, although if they like water, why not?

Cats take very good care of their fur coats, and they really do not need to be bathed unless they get soiled by something. I think it can strip their coats of natural oils, so it isn't a good idea to wash them unless they really need it.

If they like it, it's fine, just make sure they are well dried especially in the winter, so that they don't catch a cold. However, there is no need to bathe them.

Though cat owners may want to depend on a cat to clean herself, there may be a time when you will want to give your cat a bath.

No it's not just make sure that your only doing it about once a week cause then you'll wash off the natural oils and their skin will dry out.
