To show that ecclesiastical music does not need to be religious:

and apparently a high school can pull it off too...
(yes there are better versions but this one is very nice in this perspective)

Keep your religion out of my schools. So which religion should be allowed into schools for that song? What about Satanism, they could start out with Highway to Hell. They are a religion too. What about atheists that would not want any religious songs played? Theists have their own schools and so send your kids to those schools so that they can all believe exactly the same thing. Doesn't that scare you that they are trained to think and believe the same things. They are taught what they should believe, that is scary. As for normal schools, keep your religion out of them and keep your religion to yourself, and I nor many like me want to have any part of your beliefs.
Amazing that you picked the artist Elton John, considering that his lifestyle (being gay) is condemned by most religions on the planet. So obviously he is good enough for one thing (his musical talent) but his lifestyle is evil. How typically hypocritical of religion.

Are you sure you want a song by Elton John? Not that I have anything against him but chances are greater that having a opening song sung from his collection might appear to endorse homosexuality and we all know how those fundamentalists will react when children are exposed to anything not church approved.

Religion has no business in school. Religion of any kind. It is the responsibility of PARENTS to teach their children the religious beliefs they wish their children to live by. It is most definitely NOT the responsibility of the school systems to do so.

Yes why not. It will be nice if the song teaches moral values so kids
stop screwing each other and mess their lives.

My fifth grade teacher, Mr. Murphy, would have us sing each morning. We learned a different song each month. I still remember the song for May, 1971 was Happy Talk.
