Same here my friend. That is why I call prayer wishful thinking.
And just like you, I heard all sorts of cop-out answers as to why prayers are not answered. To me it is just that a bunch of nonsense. The reason for prayer is to keep people into believing in god.

God is not subject to human logic.
Praying is a reaffirmation of faith in God.
Every good gift is from above. Therefore, logically,
every bad thing is from Satan, or self.
You, however, have lost faith and become a fatalist.
Yes, the results of praying to a wall may be the same, but can you give glory and thanks to a wall? If so, then you are an idolater.
The next step in YOUR progression is to change God to something more palatable and logical. Eventually you will worship creation itself and try to remove God from your mind.
(This is the progression revealed in Romans 1 from verse 18 to the end of the chapter.)
The real problem is that you have never released yourself to be reliant upon God, and you have made your own choices.
You really just need to be born-again, like Jesus taught Nicodemus in John 3.

praying is well sort of a way to get something off your chest so to speak ,that has u concerned about something, and just thinking that your prayers may help can make u feel better.even if u feel the prayer didnt give u any results,at least u did something positive, and that cant be bad.

you do not know that the results are "just the same", had you prayed they might have turned out differntly. However, the main problem you are experiencing, is "faith" , and you know without it you cannot please God. I would think and you may remember that the bi;ble tells us, when we are faith-less, God is faithfull. He still loves you, he still is beside you, It is you, who have turned from him, and how can you be happy like that? You know there is a God, and that Prayer is what makes the difference, without which none of us can go to heaven. Jesus loves you with all him might. Dont stay away too long.He understands, beleive me, he does. God bless you

If you can pray, to the Master you love with all your heart and all your soul, and ask for things that are not your Master wish for His Servants, can you truly say He is your Master that you love with all your heart and all your soul? If Jesus says, "love thy Lord with all your heart and all your soul, and to do to others as you would have them do to you." That this is the path to Salvation. What would you pray for? Things that would make things better now? Or things that will get you to be with the Master you love so dearly?
If you pray for an egg and get an egg, well there you go you have an egg. If you don't pray for an egg and get an egg and wanted an egg, will there you go you have an egg. Now if you pray for a better understanding of the Lord and you will get a better understanding of the Lord. Now that's better than all the eggs in the world.... at least i think so. But don't think of me as an egg hater please.
For me i'm thinking everything else is just eggs so go for the path part, you'll get eggs either way.

The results are still the same, because you are still the same unsaved person you were when you lived as a Catholic. The Catholic religion is a false one, and that is why you have never experienced God, because you never knew Him.

The results are the same because you were not a Christian back then.
To truly be Christian means the Holy Spirit resides within you. He is a part of you. Once He becomes a part of a person it is permanent.
Being a Catholic, a Baptist, or any other religion does not automatically make someone a Christian.
Neither does anything they do other than accept the gift of salvation from Jesus Christ, Himself.

Good question. Jesus said to pray, so I do, but the only argument I've heard that makes sense to me, is "God instituted prayer to give his creations the dignity of causality."
Or maybe it's more a matter of aligning your will with God's.

Well there are princibles and laws of nature that cannot be broken. Like give and it will be given back to you, if you are that guy helping with the last couple of bucks at the grocery store, or buying lunch for someone who forgot thiers. Then you will get back in return look at Opra and Bill gates not Christians and they are giving and getting back and they can't explain it. There are others like whether or not you believe in the laws of thermodynamics it's true and works.....

Jehovah is far away from the wicked ones, but the prayer of the righteous ones he hears.
He that is covering over his transgressions will not succeed, but he that is confessing and leaving them will be shown mercy.
He that is turning his ear away from hearing the law—even his prayer is something detestable.
Moreover, without FAITH it is impossible to please God well, for he that approaches God must believe that He IS; and that He becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking Him.
