don't worry about the weight.. get off the computer
and go play sports or walk the mall.

Burn calories doing normal teenage stuff.

I can relate. When I was your age I felt I was "fat" too. But you are only 13 and that baby fat will come off. I'm 24 now and looking back I really wish I would have just concentrated on being a teenager and having fun then worrying about what other people though of me. And starving yourself wont help. What you need to do if you REALLY think you need to lose weight is eat 4-5 low fat, calorie meals a day and stay active. Starving yourself wont help you loose weight!!!

I would make sure you are in an active PE class every day at school. Do that for a starter. See if you can find a buddy and walk home after school if your parents will let you. Get up half and hour before school and stretch. About your diet. Eat alot of green vegetables and alot less starch. Stay away from fried food and BIG desserts. If you are drinking sodas don't. NOT even diet soda - Its proven to increase the appetite. If you see grease on a food blot it off or don't eat it. Switch to skim milk. Eat more fiber.

I would stop eating junk food. Drinks tons on water playing sports, run dance just get active, and remember that it is not about Ur weight it is about if u like the way u look and muscle weights more than fat. if u like the way u look at say weight 125 then stop. after u are happy stay on the same stricked diet, so that u will not gain the wieght back. So just eat well and exercise and it would help if we knew Ur height.

Okay, you're 130 lbs - but how tall are you? 130 doesn't sound like that much unless you're like 4ft tall, especially when you're only 13 and should still be carrying around some baby fat. Its crazy to me that 13 yo girls diet - you have another growth spurt coming. You're body stores extra fat - 'baby fat' for just such occasions, when you're body is doing a lot of growing, it needs a lot of energy to keep up and rebuild muscle and bone.

You're young and what is most important isn't being skinny. Skinny is no more healthy than being fat in fact. You need to focus on being HEALTHY! Eat lots of fruits and veggies, get enough lean protein like chicken and fish, drink lots of water and go easy on sweets, soda, juices and sports drinks, fast food, and garbage like that.

Get outside and play - ride your bike, take walks with your friends, play sports - and just have a good time. Good luck sweetie.

Stop eating junk food,
stop watching junk T.V.,
and get involved with some sort of sport.
If you are truly motivated, then in a year or two you can be in healthy shape.

But if you are just a lazy person, then trade your exercise book in for a psychology book and get ready to learn self-acceptance because if you don't follow a smart and healthy plan... 13yrs old/130lbs WILL become 23yrs old/230lbs.
Sorry, that is the reality.

You do not have to starve yourself. Don't eat junk food, fast food, and drink soft drinks. Eat healthy. Lean meats, whole grains, vegetables, fruits, 8 glasses of water if you can, and fat reduced dairy products. Also try to get at least 30 minutes of some type of exercise even if it is walking fast and moving your arms or riding a bike. The exercise will also make you feel better mentally.

Here are a few tips:

1. You MUST exercise if you want to lose weight and keep it off, so do something every day, even if it’s just a 15-minute walk around the neighborhood. Don’t say you don’t have time for exercise; you have to MAKE time. Yes, it takes time and effort, but you’re worth it, right?

2. Walk as much as you want, but don’t do cardio for more than 40 minutes at a time. If you do, you risk burning muscle instead of fat.

3. If you do strength training, use light weights and do lots of repetitions. That’ll really help you “tone up.”

4. Your diet will make you or break you. You have probably learned bad eating habits over time (most people do). That’s not your fault, but now you have to deal with it. Make a commitment to yourself to unlearn those bad habits and re-learn better habits.

5. Eat breakfast every day within an hour of getting up. People who don’t are 450% more likely to be overweight.

6. Eat six small meals or snacks per day instead of three squares per day or one big meal per day. Your body expends energy digesting your food, so eating smaller portions more often keeps your metabolism running high because you’re constantly digesting food.

7. Avoid these as much as possible:

-- Trans fat (any type of partially or fully hydrogenated oil)
-- High fructose corn syrup (soft drinks are LOADED with it)
-- Fast food
-- Junk food
-- White sugar, white flour, white rice, white potatoes
-- The deadly C’s (cookies, cakes, candy, chips, cola)

8. Build your diet around these trim-body-friendly foods:

-- Nuts, any kind (almonds are best)
-- Beans/Legumes
-- Fresh vegetables (green is GREAT!!!)
-- Dairy products (as long as they’re low-fat or non-fat)
-- Eggs
-- Lean meats (fish and poultry top the list)
-- Olive oil
-- Whole grain breads/cereals/pasta
-- Fresh fruits (anything that ends in “berry” is a winner)
-- Tea (green tea or black pekoe tea)
-- Cold water or ice water (your body has to expend extra calories to heat it up)

9. Desserts and treats are the exception, not the rule. Having said that, however, (1) you can have a couple of pieces of chocolate every day – just don’t overdo, and (2) Allow yourself one “cheat meal” every week where you eat and drink whatever you want as long as you don’t gorge yourself. That’ll help keep you from feeling deprived and it’ll make it easier to stick with your new healthy eating plan.

Good luck!

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Get started today!
