It was kind of a revolutionary painting from the start, as it was the first (known) portrait to depict someone in any 'imaginary background, rather than staged in a studio as maost portraits were.

I also seem to remember from art history class that it was thought very 'avant garde' that she was painting looking directly at the viewer rather than with averted eyes, as was the 'done thing' in the 16th century. In other words the painting was way ahead of its time ans, as such, mysterious and intriguing - like a lot of Da Vinci's work and thinking.

Mona Lisa has no eyebrows on account that grew to become into an indication of upperclass-incredibly NO facial hair; they even plucked the hair line returned slightly because of the fact a common hair line looked as though it could neanderthal. As for her smile: each and all of the porttraits of the comparable time never confirmed any emotion. Mona Lisa grew to become into that first toddler step into the tooth displaying smiles all of us understand now. Mona Lisa isn't a self-portrait of Leonardo its only his variety of portray...in case you realize all and sundry who creates artwork-seem ask them to charm to a face and you will in all likelihood see a resemblance between that face and the artist's. it only proves that the terrific variety is the artist themselves. yet one extra reason Mona Lisa is so ordinary is via the fact Leonardo in basic terms definitely finished 7-8 artwork and, sure, he did carry Mano Lisa around.

It was called "La Gioconda" by Da Vinci. Not sure when it got the name, "Mona Lisa." I saw it at the Louvre a few years ago. It is a very small painting - all alone on one wall. People flock to see her.

I remember hearing in Art History classes that it was unusual to have a model in that spacial environment - and, I think, looking at the viewer.

There's loads of reasons the most well known is the mystery surrounding her

look at the background even that's a mystery the two sides don't meet up and if you look at her from one side she looks taller then when you look at the right side!

And of course Leonardo Da Vinci painted it! he was well known for not finishing any of his paintings so any he did finish were greatly admired

It was completly different then any painting that had ever been done at that time and even know it is considered a remarkably good painting

it might also just be that it was painted by Leonardo Da Vinci. That alone for me at least makes me want to see it. That man was a genius and had thoughts and idea that were way past his time.
