Nymormon's answer represents the typical LDS line but is not accurate. The Utah LDS church is the largest and most influential but it is not the only Mormon church. There are dozens of religious denominations who follow at least some of the teachings and revelations of Joseph Smith, Jr., publisher of the Book of Mormon in 1830. All are members of what they call The Restoration and which the world calls the Latter Day Saint Movement.

The Reorganized LDS church, for example, now called the Community of Christ, is also a Mormon church as defined by their belief in the BoM. Its members believe that the Utah Mormons are the offshoot of the original church. So do the FLDS, the LDS (Strangite), the Church of Christ (Temple Lot), the Remnant LDS, independent RLDS/Restoration branches, etc. There is also a movement known as Reformed Mormonism, which is somewhat like a Unitarian version of Mormonism.

The Utah LDS would like to think they are the only Mormons, but it's arrogance and/or ignorance of their own history that leads them to think that.

You've got your name wrong.

"Mormon" is a nickname for people who belong to

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

They believe in the Bible as well as a book called The Book of Mormon, hence the nickname.

You might also be interested to know that they're the 4th largest religion in the United States.

Mormons is a common name for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the official name of the church. It was derived as a nickname from a volumn of scriptures entitled The Book of Mormon. This book serves as a second witness of Jesus Christ to the world. The Church discourages the use of the name Mormon. in refering to the church.

Mormon is the nickname for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. So, to answer your question, they are one and the same. There is only ONE Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we are all the same.

We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
We believe that through the atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
We believe the Bible to be the word of God.

'Mormon' is a nickname given to people who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The nickname is derived from our belief in a book which we believe to be another testiment of Jesus Christ called the Book of Mormon. It was abridged from ancient records by an ancient prophet named Mormon, hence the name.

Other sects have broken off from the original church, [RLDS & FLDS for example] but I don't believe either sect considers themselves 'mormon'.

Bobby Jim's answer above is not correct. Mormons do believe Jesus is God, and they do worship him. And yes, they are Christian. Here's a quote from an objective (academic) source (“Anthology of World Scriptures” by Robert E. Van Voorst):

“…the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints…see themselves as Christian, and most experts in comparative religions would view this labeling as basically correct. That they…accept the Christian Bible as their first cannon is a good indicator of this. Moreover, “outsiders” to [Christianity], such as Buddhists, would almost certainly recognize them as belonging to the stream of Christian tradition.”

FLDS is a faction that broke off of the better LDS (Mormon ) church based on the FLDS's unwillingness to provide up on polygamy. the better LDS church stopped the practice in 1890. The FLDS have chosen to maintain training it. If somebody does practice polygamy, they're excommunicated from the better LDS church. FLDS are no longer component to the better LDS church.
