There's a story on Yahoo about an invention a 9-year-old made that raises and lowers the toilet seat because his mom would yell at him when he didn't put it down. Ladies, you should look before you sit and be glad we didn't piss where you're going to sit.

Thanks for all the great answers.
I'm not a disrespectful person and I always put the seat down for my mom when I lived at home in high school.
The fact that a 9-year-old had to invent something for his troubles with his mom just inspired me to see what people really think.
Thanks again.

But you want to know why we get upset?? If the seat is up and we sit down, we fall in sometimes; not funny. Seems to me like the normal way for a toilet seat to be is down.

I see this question a lot on here, and most women say it's because they'll fall in to a toilet bowl of cold water if they sit down without a seat. Personally, my @ss is too wide, and I'd just end up sitting on a cold toilet bowl rim. :D I don't get too upset at having to put the seat down. True, I don't like touching the toilet seat, but there are far more important things to worry about on a daily basis. What i dislike is that my husband apparently thinks it's OK to dribble pee on the toilet rim. Why can't he just either stand closer to the toilet or take a square of TP and wipe it off??

One day, you should sit down on the toilet with the seat up, if you haven't ever before/were intoxicated when it happened.

Feel to cold porcelain slip up your thighs and hips as the cold, stagnant toilet water splashes up to meet your butt cheek. Feel the dirty plastic from the bacterial underside of the toilet seat on your back. Know that gravity takes care of about 98% of the effort in putting the seat down and whoever last used the bathroom must therefore be the laziest son of a b*tch in whole f*cking world, and then try to take a piss, the one relief you've been waiting for this whole time it's taken you to become enraged.

That's why. :)

As a woman, I heavily do not innovations while the bathroom seat is left up, in actuality, i might particularly that ensue. I continually look earlier I take a seat, and that i've got had situations the place my boyfriend's roomie grew to become into too lazy to place the seat up and that i ended up not seeing the piss that i ended up sitting in. Ew.

well the good side it made this boy be creative!
most of the world lacks that now!

i look before i sit down and if it is up i put it down
i mean for crying out loud it's a freaking toilet seat!

my life have bigger issues and goals to acheive then a 2 sencond put down of a seat!
who cares!
i am female too!
my boyfriend i couldn't tell you if he put it down or left it up that's how much i care!
as long as there is pee or poo on the seat i'm okay with it!

Edit:
lol why not just everyone put the the real lid on it! you know the one that cover the holes
this way you can't blame anyone for your midnight stubbles and falling in but then your going to have to clean up the mess because your so sleepy and you didn't notice the top top lid was on!
this way both parties have to pull it up and put it down!

lol

i live with brothers so i know where you're coming from. Thanks for not pissing on the seat. There's nothing worse than sitting in someone else pee. (unless you're R.Kelly) I think everybody should just put both lids down so everyone suffers.

But women ***** about it because they don't check before they sit down and it sucks falling into a toilet. Another reason is that the toilet just looks better with the lid down. (mom's point of view)

Some woman are actually pretty cool about it believe it or not. My girlfriend gets bugged out when I eat the last of the chocoate without replenishing but has never said a word about the toilet seat. It's just a pet peeve. We all have them, that's a common one for most women. In time, us guys get trained to deal with it. Either that or build our own bathroom...or get a new wife.

It bugs me because I have to touch the toilet seat. That's gross! What if there's up-splash?? Also - you guys can miss and hit the rim - and then I could sit on it! That's really disgusting. Or even worse - I half fall in and you forgot to flush! That's WHY!!! =) I've fallen into the toilet only a couple times in my life but still -- just do us a favor it only takes a second of your time!

I am a woman and I don't complain about this.

At the risk of getting to philosophical, how do we know which way is really right? Maybe I should put the seat UP when I'M done. Not that I will, but, just a thought.

I don't understand why this is such a big issue. It isn't as if lowering the seat when you are through is difficult or time consuming, like putting on the lid of the toothpaste tube. Why, if you are aware that this is bothersome to one you love, would you not make it a point to accommodate? We try to simplify the lives of those we love, and to make their lives more pleasant, don't we? We major on minor issues, and forget that loving the person is the important thing.

Edit: Good point, Curly.
