Only if the teenager in question is over 17yrs old and has a valid driver's licence...then the answer is likely to be yes.

Cheers :)

A qualified "no". If the teenagers are still at school then it is most likely they will have a driving licence at 17 but will not own a car. They will have access to a car without owning it. Once they leave school and start earning money a car becomes a priority so more 18 and 19 year-olds will get cars, particularly in the country. In the cities, there is not the same need for a car as there is in the country. If the teenagers are at university, the majority do not own cars.

Well I'm 20 and have no interest in owning a car now or even in the near future. I do have a driver's licence so I just borrow my mum's car if I need it and if she isn't using it, which isn't that often anyway because I live close to the city and close to my university, and close to work.

Besides, parking in the centre of the city is either impossible or heinously expensive, and a car just isn't worth the bother for me. I catch public transport most days.

However, the further from the centre of the city you go, the more necessary it becomes to own a car because public transport gets considerably less reliable. Generally, in the outer suburbs of the city, country towns and rural areas, car ownership is most necessary.

At least half of my childrens class mates had cars in the last year of high school.
Most had after school and week-end jobs from the age of 15 to save for them, with a little help from Mum and Dad.
As stated before, the rest of them had access to a vehicle.
Not all kids drive or get their licence, at 17, some wait until they are in their 20's.

I'm 34 and there is a lot more cars getting driven around here now, as well as to the schools by younger people now than when i was in school so i would say yes if they have got a small job or their parents have bought them one...

Definitely more so now than when I was at school.

During my high school days, only one student had a car, now about half of the teens I know have a car or access to a car.

Cheers :-)
