wow... so many of these answers make so little sense it makes my brain hurt. I especialli like the one about us being in Christ's image.... that's a real chicken-and-egg scenario, huh? Espcially with Christ coming thusands of years after Adam....

So "His own image" doesn't mean "his own image." I get it. I understand how things get translated and -retranslated over centuries, but the definitions and explanations here all seem pretty far-fethced and unsupportable.

Short and to the point:

It doesn't mean his own image as in a psychical matter, instead he meant how we have feelings and emotions just like God.

That is why we are able to love, because God himself is LOVE (1 John 4:8)

The best definition of 'image' I've found comes from psychologist, Dr. Larry Crabb. 'Image' is made up of consciousness, intellect/reason, emotion, and will (the ability to make choices).

I would say this constitutes a definition of 'spirit' as well, and God is a spirit (John 4:24)

God the Father God the Son and God the Holy Spirit created u in His image.
The three r 1, They Created us.
We see through a mirror dimly, but when the perfect one comes we will see Him perfectly.

In the Septuagint, the word chosen for "Image" = Greek = "ikon"...

Think "spiritual imprint". That's the meaning of "image".

Perhaps more Sunday School and less Internet for you might be a good idea?

The Bible says God created Adam in His own image.
The Bible also says that Seth (Adam's #3 son) was made in Adam's image.
We are descended from Seth, who was made in the image of a sinful Adam.

And THAT'S why you are not invisible.
LOL

God is triun, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus came to earth in the flesh, we were created in His image.

God is a spirit and you are right, we cannot see a spirit. God wrapped himself in flesh and came down to earth. God is Jesus manifested in the flesh. That is how we see God. That is how we know what God's name is. It is Jesus. God also manifested himself into the Holy Ghost. And these three are one. I am a son and my name is Michael. I am a father and my name is Michael. I have a spirit and my spirit's name is michael. These three are ONE. In the name (not names) of the father, Son and the Holy Ghost.

Perhaps you've heard the process called growth.

It's like metamorphosis to a butterfly.
The caterpillar has to die to turn into butterfly.
