I agree with you Larina. Satan is being disguised in much of the so called Contemporary music of these times.

Yes, there is. It's not the form, or the fact that it has a 3-4 beat. The message is the key.

No doubt there are some who are out there simply trying to make a quick buck off the label "Christian". However, the majority of it is legitimate.

Don Francisco, the Christian troubadour, and Jerry Williams, formerly of the group Harvest, both wrote songs about this very thing. As Jerry's song says, "If you stop and listen to the words that I say, you might even see just why I'm singin' this way."

Why not?? I think, if you are telling the gospel in your rap or rock song and reaching people with your music, it's Christian. Why are people so hard pressed to remove the validity of anything that has to do with Christ or Christianity?

Instead of nit-picking what is Christian and what isn't, try listening to the message. The delivery is different for the times we live in NOW. People listen to all different types of music, Why not try to deliver the gospel in a way that will reach people who enjoy rap and rock?

They are trying to BLEED OFF some of the worship due God.

Someone has said that all idolatry is self worship or it is the worship of another human. In the worship of music and musician it has been called "the idolatry of talent." The golden image in Daniel 3 is that which elevates any man or performer above their brethren.

NEBUCHADNEZZAR the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon. Dan 3:1

That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up: Daniel 3:5

Music is a form of entertainment designed to draw people away from that quiet and "difficult Bible stuff".

Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them! And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands. - Isaiah 5:11,12.

It is an end-time form of worshipping APOLLO:

"And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon." - Revelation 9:11.

It is man-glorifying and destined to fall and fail, and according to John in Revelation, probablt real SOON:

Revelation 18:21-23 ---

"And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

And the voice of harpers,

and musicians,

and of pipers,

and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee;

and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee;

and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;

And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived."
