yes of course you can as long as the paint is sound, i have done my whole pine end, i used unibond or pva even with water at 3 % to 1 and maybe wire brush the surface, i even made my own mix of tyrol as it was so overpriced,i used a yellowish river sand and cement lime mix its brill rock hard and the colour i wanted, as painting it is a slow process give me 10 im on a roll

i don't think you can Tyrolean over Tyrolean i know you cant apply Tyrolean to previously painted surfaces whether there is a bonding agent about i dont know, check this link out and giv'em a bell they will tell you exactly what you can do

tyrolean is a specialist finish, you will not be able to apply this yourself, there are various companies in the uk that can carry this work out and give a complete guarantee, your best bet is to ring one of these and ask for some advice on this, its a tricky 1 to answer sorrysearch under plasterers, renderers and pargeteerers

as long as the substrate is sound & the paint is not pealing or coming away you can apply tyrolean directly it will stick like s... to a blanket.

you could use pva ..but it will be a long job as you will have zero suction ..would mix some and spread it on ..let it set for a few days ..then you should get the Tyrolean effect. when you apply it through the gun
