Similar to what happened in the US civil war. If there are 11 million illegal immigrants (largely Mexican) in the US now and they are becoming increasingly militant, why don't they return to their country and use their numbers to make a change in their country?

Because their president is crooked. He wouldn't listen to them if they tried. He puts a good front on, but in the end nothing will get done.

Because for the vast majority of Mexicans, life is NOT so terrible.

Yes, there are problems, particularly since the population is very young (more than 50% under 25) which means millions of young people are entering the job market every year. They are better and better educated too. And the economy just can't create enough jobs for them all fast enough.

But the economy is growing healthily. The peso has been remarkably stable against the dollar for several years now. I have a lot of my money in a Mexican investment account, and it is returning about 8 times what a similar account in the US would give me. That's because economists have confidence in the Mexican economy and its potential for growth.

The life of the average Mexican is getting better. The middle class is growing rapidly. With two presidential elections now in a row resulting in no economic crisis, people are beginning to have more confidence in their government. Credit is becoming easier.

Remember, the ones who come to the US to find work are the poorest of the poor. They are not at all representative of the people of Mexico as a whole.

it is absolutely amazing, and ludicrous, how many people here answered " because their government is corrupt". Hello people, there would be no need to rise up against a fair and just government.
To answer the question, the country is not in shambles enough for an uprising. Look to the many true third world countries out there whose citizens are starving to death, dying from treatable diseases, even suffering from genocide. I'm sure to these poor people the citizens of Mexico appear rich.

I have asked this questions many times but if you are not aware of the Mexican "CORRUPT" government and police, then most people don't understand....there is a lot of poverty in Mexico....only where there are the beaches and resorts, do the people live decent......plus, their was no birth control, everyone was a professed Catholic, which is a bunch of bull, and they used that excuse for having so many children....poverty is rampant in the majority of the country and they have too many people.....then look around here and they are still having too many kids, but then again, they get all the benefits of being American citizens because they are born here and MOM & DAD benefit from that.....so, the million dollar questions is: Where would you choose to live...the US or Mexico? I think the answer is pretty clear....since our government does not enforce the laws against these people.......and the Mexican government is also reaping the rewards...their economy is better than ours.....

For some reason that is beyond me the Mexicans have no leaders that can rally the people for demanding their rights. When we had those marches for amnesty in 2006 and 2007, there were plenty of leaders and thousands of marchers, maybe those people that are Mexicans need to go to Mexico and start demanding there what they are entitled too, and not here where they are not

Why would they risk their lives to save a worthless country like Mexico when they can just illegally enter the US and have a much better life than Mexico could ever offer without having any obligations to the country, no loyalty, military service while enjoying all the things OUR families have worked for for generations. WE are the stupid ones for letting them steal from us.

The bigger question is , why aren't they protesting in AMerica, to get our Country to force Mexico to be fairer to their citizen, instead of showing hatred towards our country. THey come here and wave their flag saying that we are unfair towards them, while they are free to go back home. I understand that if they protest in Mexico, they might get shot. I don't see the Mexican Army monitoring the May Day protest. When I look at the Armenian's, they say they love America, but instead of attacking us for not stating that there was an Armenian genocide, they attack Turkey for causing the genocide. They have atleast one protest a year against turke, and it's peaceful.

You realize that the folks that staged the uprising in the civil war were the ones that lost, right?

Mexico's government is even more corrupt than America's, and it's democratic institutions are comparatively weak. Add to that the profound racism and class divisions in that country, and yes, poor mestizos /do/ find it easier to cross the border illegallly, and demand a better life in the USA, than to make those same demands in the EUM.

It's frightening to think that these ignorant Mexicans are fleeing their native land because the Democratic structure there is a bigger joke than America's.

No infrastructure in Mexico. Isn't is a lot easier for a Mexican National to illegally cross our border and enjoy FREE - first rate health care, full social security benefits and a cold glass of lemonade after working in the garden!

If you were to replace the Mexican Government with our top politicians and business execs. - it would still take decades to get Mexico anywhere close to parity with what they can get here illegally.

This is a good exercise in understanding why liberal legislation will break America.

It's called corruption and cowardice. Much easier to be a plague on the American society than to risk their lives to make a better life for the future generations in their native co untries. Is it any wonder why we despise them for what they are doing to our country? They don't seem to understand what a free, law abiding society is and why we have treasured ours and worked so hard to maintain it. So many Americans have paid for this with their lives but obviously that is not the illegal way!
