How can they possibly compare their movement to the civil rights movement?
Although many illegals are demanding US citizenship, and to be given special consideration ahead of those who have applied legally, a marked number of Hispanics do not want it. But, they do demand the “same rights” as US citizens. Many Hispanic groups, including (but not limited to) MEChA, the Mexica Movement and LULAC, are supporting and working toward the re-conquest (“reconquista”) of the United States. These groups are, also, becoming increasingly militant.

to some polisci major:
I think that's a better job for the skinheads . . . then we can eliminate two problems at once.
I'm bi-racial so don't try to convince me this is a race issue.

to summer:
This was why I posted a different question asking if people were not concerned about certain groups deciding to take the law into their own hands.
I am bi-racial. I was raised in an area of the country where there was a lot of real racism. Neo-nazi skinheads, white power/pride.
People who are trying to make this a race issue will excite those who are truly racist and that is going to cause some real problems.

Those militant hate groups should be banned from our nation and if not, then let them suffer the reprisal that is on the horizon. You forgot about La Raza one of the nastiest groups of all. They think that they should receive all rights and special considerations for Hispanics because a zillion years ago, some of their ancestors lived on the land that was lost by Mexico as well as paid for by the USA. I don't know what they're drinking or high on but they need a harsh dose of reality!

What I found funny was on May 1st this year...some local hispanics gathered at the downtown library for a meeting and wore shirts that said *Immigrant rights are Human rights*
They left out the ILLEGAL part
Its like saying Cat Burglar rights are Human Rights

Because they are seriously delusional. Obviously, not only do they think they are above the law, but these organizations you mention, along with La Raza, are playing the race card, which they liken to the civil rights movement. That movement really was about true citizens of the US who were oppressed. They think they are owed everything that is not theirs to begin with. They deny the true history of the Mexican-American war. That these states were won AND paid for too. They are revisionists.

IIRC, asside from voting rights, persons residing in the US, legally or otherwise, do enjoy prettymuch the same protections of thier civil liberties as citizens. Though, of course, if they're here illegally, they don't have the right to stay.

it all makes no since to me why our govt does nothing. they wont be happy until Americans are picking up arms and taking care of the problem. in 2 days the kkk is marching in my town against illegals. a lot of non kkk members are also marching with the kkk to let our govt know they are not happy about illegals being here. in my opinion if they are going to give the kkk a hard time for being a hate group, they should shut down the ucla, la raza and mecha. they are doing nothing but going against the united states govt and our laws.

They don't. THey do not have the right to be here.
It's a joke. WHen I listen to them, they don't want equal rights, they want more rights then us citizens. I get mad at them comparing to Martin Luther King's protest. MLK did not attack America. He wanted the two groups to get along. He didn't fly a foreign flag, or attempt to offend anyone. He encourage a peaceful protest.
