Hi!

I have a gorgeous wedding dress that I do not want to get rid of, but I don't know what else to do with it! I hate to get rid of a dress after paying so much for it and only wearing it once!
Is there any way to keep the dress but turn it into something that could be used or seen?

No smart-a** answers either. I am married to the man I love and wont be using it again as a wedding dress. :-)

Thanks

Sorry, but I'm affraid any alteration idea just will ruin the dress, I don't think is worth it. I will keep it, I have keep mine, I will say that when my kids grow up I will feel the need to show them my wedding dress, maybe it could be use for a daughter as prom dress or weeding dress.

Other Idea could be rent it to a friend that will soon married, I have a friend that did this to 2 of her friends because she bought a designer dress of like almost 3,000dllrs. ! so she rented, just careful, because one of them altered the dress and she cry llike crazy about it. So if you do that make sure to put in writing what is allowed and what not, etc.

Good Luck!

I got married right after Christmas in January - we had an icy snowflake theme and gave glass snowflake ornaments away as favors - so I turned my wedding dress into a Christmas tree skirt and we use the extra glass snowflakes on our Christmas tree - it looks beautiful with the white twinkle lights on the beading on the dress and I can look at it every year for a whole month!!

I preserved mine. It actually takes up a lot of space (the box is huge, but I can see the dress everyday. I don't plan on having kids so I'm not too sure this was a great idea. I know a woman who had her dress made in to curtains.

Instead of making it into something you could always have it preserved. There are plenty of bridal shops that do this. They even press it so much that it doesn't take up a lot of room. And that way if your daughter/daughter in-law ever wants to wear it (if any kids at all), you could pull it out and it would be like new.

I would really try to re-sell it or perhaps donate to an orginization like Brides for Breastcancer or find a needy bride in your area who can't afford to purchase a dress but is still very deserving of one.

I mean sure. You can rip it up and make a christining gown for your kids. If you have kids....and you want to pay extra money to have the gown made.

You could store it in a box forever so your daughter (if you have one) can wear it. Sounds great but seriously name 5 brides who wore their mother's gown. They just don't.

Here's the reality of what's going to happen. You will preserve the dress and have it as the biggest keepsake in the world for a few years. Then you will get tired of storing it and moving it and eventually try to get rid of it by selling or something. By then it's going to be out of style and nobody is going to want the dress so it's going to end up in a garage sale for like $10 and that will be the end of it.

you could just save it for your children later on. my mother kept her gown, and i'm taking off a part of the sleeve to wrap around the stems of my bouquet, so i can still sort of follow the tradition without actually wearing the dress. my sisters are taking the rest of the dress to make a decorative pillow or something like that out of it.

My mother saved her wedding dress and when my sister got married she had it made into a wedding album, saving enough material for my wedding.

I've heard some brides saving their dress and making into baptisme outfits for their future children. Or you can just perserve it and same it for sentimental reasons.

You could have someone turn it into a baby blanket or something for your current/future baby :)

Or you could put it in storage somewhere in case your future daughter/daughter-in-law wants it.

Or have someone turn it into a nice tablecloth or other decor with your wedding date and names embroidered on there.
