1 Corinthians 11:19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

The Bible is saying that those without heresies are the approved of God. Isn't doctrine the ultimate test? Anyone can be loving, and do good deeds, even without believing anything at all. So when it comes down to it, isn't doctrine the only test of who is a Christian?

Andymcj78: Then how is it different than an atheist that asks something with the clear bias of one that doesn't believe? Is that preaching as well, that should be not allowed? If you don't like my question, then report it, I won't care ;)

I guess I wonder if instead it is what John said when he went to prepare the way of the Lord.

Luke 3:7-11

7John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? 8Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. 9The axe is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire."

10"What should we do then?" the crowd asked.

11John answered, "The man with two tunics should share with him who has none, and the one who has food should do the same."

I usually agree with Father K, but not this time. Even Doctrine must pass the test of Scripture. There has, is and always will be false doctrines. The word of God is steadfast, and unchanging.

We as Christians must therefore measure ourselves, and what we do in the light of Scripture, placing ourselves below Scripture as students, not above it as Masters.

Correct: It is not the abstract emotional wants or beliefs that are the judgment of men, it is the scripture of God. We all want to think we are judged by our intentions, but God actually has made it clear He will judge us by our obedience to His Word (Scripture)

John 12:48 "....the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day"

1 John 2:5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.

1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

One more thought - doctrine is only from Scripture; apart from Scripture there is no other doctrine

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

Any doctrine not of scripture (the Bible) is a doctrine of men - including traditions

Matt. 15:9 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments (some translations "traditions") of men.'

Galatians 1:8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.

what's Biblical Christian Doctrine? components of the bible are real, there particularly grew to become right into a Roman presence in Jerusalem, a actual Pharaoh ruled in Egypt. there is a few historic real stuff interior the bible. i would not placed lots faith on any of the supernatural part of it although. If it began to rain frogs in NYC or London you may nicely confirm that many information businesses are going to cover it and a great number of people will checklist it so hundreds or hundreds of yrs from now each and every individual looking into the truthfulness of it would understand in spite of if it befell or no longer, in assessment to interior the bible it somewhat is the only source that mentions maximum of those movements while there have been lots of alternative sources available to checklist those activities yet none of them did.

No. We are to produce fruit for God's kingdom. Getting your doctrine correct is one thing but being obedient to it is another. You must have the power of the Holy Spirit to produce fruit. Christianity is not just an intellectual concept. it is a relationship with a real living God who is the Spirit of love.

Doctrine is one way to test a true born again believer........
But the other way is by what kind of fruit we are bearing.

Are we being a good witness for Jesus Christ at all times in the public forum?

Or are we simply blending in with the world?

I thought the only true test was to accept Jesus as your savior and the son of God, a perfect sacrifice that washes away all sins.

But I could be wrong. The entire religion is hinkey to me.

Nice to know though, that YOU and YOU alone are capable of determining who is a true Christian based on their interpretation of the Bible.

Yes. And that Doctrine is spelled out clearly in the Creed of Nicea.

Faith is the test of a Christian.
Doctrine is the test of the church.
