A neighbor who is giving up driving offered me her plates - she says she's had them for over 50 years. The are a six digit number, like, 852055.

She seemed to think this was very valuable, and she was doing me a big favor. She said many people have asked her for the plates.

I was clueless. What's up with old plates? Should I accept them and transfer my registration to them?

CHECK WITH EBAY AND SEE WHAT THEY MIGHT BE WORTH.

AS FOR TRANSFERRING THEM, I DON'T THING YOU WILL ABLE TO DO THIS BUT.................

CONTACT YOUR LOCAL (DMV) DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES OFFICE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL BE GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.

Perhaps your State is different, but I have not heard of being able to do this. Many people think that the plates are valuable due to the age. They may be, if someone wants them.
