I am not Wiccan...But I am Pagan. There may or may not be a similarity....and if there is, please rest assued that I will NOT dash out to become mormon. Pagan beliefs came long before anything christian did, and that includes mormon....and its not hard to tell just where much of the christian religion got its ideas from......will leave you with that thought.

Lots of religions have similarities. Christianity had a lot of Pagan roots. Some Christian sects have more Pagan influence than others. (and some Christians would say that Pagans have Christian influence) Some Native American religions have a God type Creator (or Great Mystery) and a Mother Earth type nurturing figure which they believed before any white man was in this country. A lot of Pre-Christian religions have a male and female figure. That does not necessarily make them connected but it is interesting.

I mean, there's a distinct similarity theologically. I'm not Wiccan, but was for about 7 years. I'm of the western mystery tradition and I see more ties between Mormonism and paths of the WMT.
There is evidence that Joseph Smith had some knowledge of Cornelius Agrippa's writings (15th century Christian Mystic).
In form and structure, Mormonism and Wicca don't really mix. Only in theology because of duality.

Mormonism is still a Christian based religion. It differs from "mainstream" Christianity only in the delusions that Joseph Smith wrote out as the book of Mormon, claiming that the Angel Moroni revealed this to him. A claim which he recanted in later life and admitted that he made it all up because he was tired of being pushed around and wanted to start his own religion in order to escape his lousy life. No Mormonism is no where near a pagan religion.

I think most Christians would do well to study pagan religions and learn what tey believe. If everyone found the GOOD in every religion, then the world would be a much better place.

Nope. The words God and Goddess may be the same words used but they are being used in very different ways from each other and with different intentions. I'm sure there are many words in the dictionary that have different meanings but use the same word. (Can't think of any now, lol) Anyway, it is the meaning - what the words mean to that particular group - that makes them very different. ;)

I'd only consider is a similarity if I thought the idea of a man and woman couple was novel, but I don't. It's one of the most common family units in existence. We also visualize them as people (as opposed to poodles or cockroaches or blobs). Is that a similarity?

i think on some level you can find similarities with all religions. what truely sets them all apart is how their constituents express/ are taught to express their fatih both in the traditional ritualistic sense and in the way they treat/ interact with others.
