In the bible it fails to educate about the the natural law of science. For example, we know that a birth cannot take place unless sperm reaches the female egg. So knowing this now how is it so easy to believe that god inpregnanted her with a baby without having intercourse. Many would say "The bible says so" but in our world we know that this cannot happen unless sperm pases to the female egg. What do you think?

Well if God created all things like the sun, moon and stars which are all scienctific (dealing with nature) why is it just "well thats just God doing something our minds can't reach." Contradiction.

To many that believe that Science didn't exist until after the bible was created you are out of touch with reality. Plato, Socrates, Imhotep.......etc etc. Man was responsible for alot of things before there was a bible.

The Bible was never meant to be a science book -- much of it is metaphor and allegory. I suspect the Fundies are the only ones who believe it to be the literal truth. The vast majority of Jews, Christians, and Muslims believe it was an explanation geared to the knowledge of people at the time. Even today, no human would understand the scientic explanation of the forces involved in creation!

Yes, and I think the reason why is simple common sense; the people of those days didn't have the science we have now, so they couldn't possibly have put it in there.

I agree with you about the impregnation. There is actually a wonderful story I think you might benefit from reading as well as find enjoyment in ~ it encompasses several papers which are online and can be read for free at you leisure, but they are too long to reproduce here.

Jesus's bestowal was surrounded by a great deal of mystery, and the people of those days as well up to even this minute of today's peoples still have many things to wonder about it and to discover.

If we can entertain the idea that God and His Heavenly Host, as well as Jesus are truly far greater in wisdom and intellect than we lowly mortal human beings are, then we can also entertain the idea that something is amiss with the Biblical accountings of what happened.

What if you could entertain the idea that some of this missing information has been provided to the people of the world today? What if you entertained the idea that God does give us answers and if we seek the truth we will find it?

Anyway, I'm posting the link below in case you're interested in this explanation as a possibility for a real answer to your very real question. Every paper in the book builds upon the information given in the previous paper, so some stuff might not make sense. If you find that to be the case, you can just read the whole book, but the information you're looking for is found in the Paper 119 entitled "The Bestowals of Christ Michael" (Jesus) and in Paper 120 The Bestowal of Michael on Urantia (earth).

Jesus' divinity and who he is as a "Creator Son" is imperative to know and understand before the subsequent papers from 121 onward really make any sense.

Best wishes... and may find that which you seek.

The Bible is not a science text, but where it touches on matters of science, it is absolutely accurate.

Astronomy: God is referred to by Job as the one "who is hanging the earth upon nothing." Now how exactly did Job know that, at a time when the common belief was that the earth was resting on Atlas or some such thing and before space exploration could discover the truth?

Hygiene: Study the laws of cleanliness that were given as part of the Mosaic Law to the Israelites.... laws concerned disposal of human waste, handling of dead bodies and so forth. These laws made them healthier and set them apart
from the nations around them.

The water cycle: Isaiah 55 describes it perfectly.

Anything else?

I don't believe the bible is a valid source of ANY kind of information! You're right that people explain everything away by saying "the bible tells me so," but it's just an old book, written by dozens of different men who certainly did NOT have the education to write anything substantial along the lines of science.

I could easily say "Because the bible says so", but becasue you want something else, I wont.
God is not man, and not bound by things like we are. (i.e. intercourse)
for goodness sake, He breathed out stars!!!
You go try and do that!
I think someone who just says so and the world comes into play can certainly perform miracles such as virgin birth.
Dig into the Bible and life, and you will realze that supernatural things cant be explained by the natural.
Hope you figure things out!

The Bible is NOT a science text book, and it never will be. The modern scientific method really started with Galileo's publication of his "Discoursi", which was not written until about 1600 years after the writing of the first New Testament Gospel.

Wow! It seems like all the answers so far (4) seem to be from ones who stumbled onto this section of Y/A by mistake. They really hate it. To me, the Bible is literally God's inspired Word, his communication with humans, containing his purposes, his instructions and illustrations of those who obeyed him and those who didn't. It also contains the ministry of his only begotten Son while he was on earth. It in we find how we can live better lives now and how to have eternal life in the future. "Trust in Jehovah with all your heart and do not lean upon your own understanding. In all your ways take notice of him, and he himself will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5, 6) "Your word is a lamp to my foot, And a light to my roadway." (Psalms 119:105) It also tells us of God's purpose for humans on the earth. "For evildoers themselves will be cut off, But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth. And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be... The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it." (Psalms 37:9, 10 29) It is the most important book, (combination of books) ever written.

If a average person describes the animals he sees, and happens to incorrectly categorize bats as birds, does that mean the Bible is all wrong? Or does it mean the psalmist is not a biologist? People describing what they see around them, prior to the development of strict zoological systemology, does not make them wrong.

And I also believe that if God can create the universe, he can also cause an immaculate conception to occur. He is not bound by our limitations.

The Bible was never intended to be a science book, nor to take the place of science. It's a collection of books detailing the salvation history of mankind.

So many people make the mistake of thinking that it either has to be 100% literally true (such as a whale really swallowed Jonah) or they go the complete opposite and say that none of it can be true.

One has to read the Bible in light of context, genre, culture at the time, etc.

As for Mary, we don't put limits on God - to us He can do anything He wishes. He is outside time and constraints.

Hence the term "miracle"...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miracle

God created the entire universe and set up all the natural laws, our human science is just beginning to understand the way God works...

furthermore, God can undermine and change any of these "laws of nature" whenever He wishes to achieve any effect He desires, including virgins giving birth, that's because He is the One who put these rules in place to begin with...
