Actually when Zatoichi fought Sanjuro (the bodyguard) it was always a draw since neither character was allowed to lose face; it would probably be the same against Benkei.

Benkei was a real tough monk, but my money is on zatoichi, even though he was blind, nobody could beat him!

If Zatoichi was a real person, then Ichi-san would win. Remember, in the movies he is always fighting to the death.
