In NYS its 18 months. I'm sure every state is somewhat different. If you go to your license bureau they can explain everything. Don't be afraid to go there. They get questions you wouldn't believe.
Now here's the sad part. Insurance policies will gouge you or your parents for up to three yrs. in NY. Again, call your insurance company, they are instantly notified of your speeding ticket.

It depends. I am in PA. I think it's one point off for every year and it should be wiped out within 3 years, regardless of the points you have. I would check with you DMV website for VA and they should have it listed on there somewhere.

Never heard of "Points" but in Louisiana I know your driving record only follows you for about 2-4 years
