I am 100% for abortion, in every situation possible. Of course if people are using it as birth control and someone has had 20 abortions..then yes, obviously that's getting out of hand. However, since unwanted pregnancies are mistakes, and everyone makes mistakes, then I find it fine. Some wise person once said, "I know I'm not perfect, and I don't live to be, but before you start pointing fingers, make sure your hands are clean."
It's a woman's right to chose whether or not she wants to stall a YEAR of her life for something she did not want in the first place. The government and no man should have any say in what she does with her body. Surely you wouldn't like it if I told you what you can and cannot do eh?
EVERY pregnancy is a POSSIBILITY. Not a guarentee. And I think many people forget that. Who's to say that abortion wouldn't have turned into a miscarriage? Who's to say if the fetus was born, the baby wouldn't be neglected or left to die?
Can you HONESTLY say you'd rather see a baby left out in the cold, trash can to die then a woman who is 8 weeks along, getting a sterile, clean abortion at a respected clinic?
Make abortion illegal, and you're basically killing women because I guarentee abortion will NEVER stop; legal or illegal. The only difference is one would be safe..the other would be coat hangers.
Edit: To the person above me, what about married couples who never want a child? Birth control methods are NOT 100% effective. I personally never want a baby but when I get married, does that mean I should never have sex with my HUSBAND?

I have a two year old little girl. I have felt her kick and roll inside of my body. I have watched the imprint of her fingers stretch along my belly. I have held her tiny, helpless body in my arm while breast feeding her. I have listened to her coo while falling asleep and listened to her giggle for the first time. It's not that people are so much against the act of choice, but that they are intelligent enough to know how amazing creating a life should be and how unfortunate taking the life of such a precious being is. If you are raped, or in an abusive relationship and it was an accident, or a drug addict and it was an accident, or terminally ill, then only the person in that situation can honestly know what kind of choice that is. At that point, you must do what you must do. However, if you are some careless person who readily spreads her legs not caring what the reprocussions are, then, no... abortion is a bad thing. If you get a termination 5 months along, you are a horrible person, you have murdered a living person. It is at that point that they are moving around inside of you. If you can live with yourself after doing that, then you need to re-evaluate a few things in your life. Abortion is not a form of birth control. It is a last resort. If you don't take responsibility in having sex, then you shouldn't be having it. Sex is not a recreational sport. It is a means of bonding and being close to a person, or for reproducing. Don't take it out on someone who cannot defend theirself... if you don't have to. I am pro-choice, but only if it is used responsibly.

Everyone is "against" abortion, just some argue it is a necessary evil. It saddens me that we live in an imperfect world where it is deemed necessary. But I'm not naive enough to think that making it illegal is the answer. It's a tricky question, but women who just spout the "my body, my choice" line are not considering the question deeply enough. In fact, they are taking a very "male" perspective to an issue, more concerned with not losing a perceived right rather than the rights and wrongs of the situation.

These people are not against abortion, which (maaaaybe) would be understandable. They are against a woman's RIGHT TO CHOOSE ABORTION, which is obscene in a nation that calls itself free.
I absolutely feel that abortion is better than adoption. There are hundreds of thousands of orphans in the US who those "loving parents unable to conceive" DON'T WANT because the kid is either a racial minority or has an incurable disease or disability. Anyone who tells you that a child put up for adoption in the US is headed for something other than the most abusive foster care system in the world is lying. (But when it comes right down to it, why should the TRUTH matter to someone who thinks a blob of cells possesses rights superior to a woman's?)

I know women that have had abortions and have given children up for adoption. The women that had the abortions, due to unwanted pregnancy, not health issues, are living lifes filled with guilt and regret, while the women that gave their children up for adoption feel they did the most loving thing they could for their child, to give them up for someone in a better position to raise them. I think abortion should be legal, but I am against it unless it's about health or crime issues because I've seen what it does to people and it's not good.

Roe vs Wade It's your legal right to an abortion. It's not always the answer. Some people believe in it and some don't. But it's better to have a clean hospital setting to abort,if need be, then find some quack to abort you with unclean instruments.
Abortion has been around since sex was invented.

I don't think that it is "better" than adoption. After all, there are a lot of couples out there who can't conceive and there are huge waiting lists to adopt children. In the states there are even programs that can help expectant mothers financially if they are planning on giving their babies up for adoption.
But it is a woman's choice. She can do as she pleases. Adoption is much more work that abortion, although I'm sure neither is an easy choice to make.

I think that there are circumstances where abortion is the best choice, but I don't like that it is being used for birth control in some instances. Also, I feel it's just TOO easy to have it done so some women don't even bother exploring other options and that isn't right either. That's my view!

I am totally against abortion. If you are responsible enough to have sex then you should be responsible for your actions. Now, on the other hand, if you were raped, then that is totally up to you. But too many women are out there having abortions because they don't want their parents or boyfriends/husbands to find out ... that is just wrong. But once again, it's your choice. You're the one that has to live with it. Could you live with yourself knowing that you didn't give that child a chance at life??

I can't wait, In 20 years this will not be a big topic because there will be alot less Repressed people in this country to protest it. I do not see alot of young people protesting it now , so All the old kooks out there will die off. Been legal since 1973 and will remain legal , so Deal with it.
