Scientific fact is independently verifiable.

Belief in a creator is not.

It may seem like a subtle difference, but in fact it is a massive one.

God, through his word the Bible, is also independently verifiable. Some simply won't bother to try. There are several instances where critics scoffed at the bible only to have to "eat crow" when it's truth was independently verified. One that comes to mind is the existence of Pontius Pilace. His existence was dismissed because evidence could be found nowhere outside of a mention in the bible. Not all that long ago archeologists unearthed evidence that he truly did exist.

And in the end science is ever changing and often has to turn around and take back it's "facts". God, on the other hand, is unchangable.

The issue is most of the difference we have in fact can not be independently verified. They are in fact a 'belief system' that many in science follow. IS this not true? there is no way to 'prove' how life started, or that the 'big bang ' occurred. or that any species has 'evolved' into a new species. in all of these there is a portion of 'belief' that is required from the scientist. is that not true?

Why do atheist foolishly liken belief in a creator to belief in science?

Science is only able to deal with "facts" - things that can be measured, weighted, verified through experiement, etc.

Religion deals instead with "truths" - something that science is unable to touch.

So why do atheist look for scientific evidence for something that is a truth, not a fact?

It may seem like a subtle difference, but in fact it is a massive one.

Foolishly?? I'm sure you wouldn't want the same thing said about you. Just because we have a difference in opinion does not make me a fool. What it makes me do is have little to no respect for your question because you can't show any.

Actually, they don't.

It's normally atheists who try to put them onto the same basis, so that they can knock down belief in a creator as "unscientific".

Science is a history of one mistake made after another. And what it says is a fact today will be relegated to a fiction tomorrow.

One quick example - Thalidomide. Perfect example of the infallibility of science there.

Don't know what you are talking about. but.

Most of the top scientists in the U.S. are Christians. The people with the highest knowledge of science as a whole are the Jews, with liberal Christians coming in second. Atheist are a distant third.

Amazing. Why do people imagine that theists would even think of doing that? Ignorance? Terror of the truth?

It's a means to argue against it, and feel that both outlooks are on a level playing field.
