I think all the products will work a little. Different things will work for different people. What I did was to just to stop buying them. This takes some self control when you really want one but if you don't have them around, then you wont smoke. It might be difficult at first but will get much easier the longer you keep it up. A good replacement for smoking when you have an urge is flavored chewing sticks. They can be found in a Wallgreens or CVS. Good luck!

Glad you asked. I smoked for 40 years and my husband for 50. We have both tried almost everything, including cold turkey, the patch, the gum, Welbutrin, hypnotism, aversion therapy... nothing worked - UNTIL...
We both got prescriptions for Chantix in late September. We have both been smoke free since early October, with almost no withdrawal symptoms.
My husband's insurance paid for his; mine cost about $120.00 for 6 weeks-worth, which is the price of 3 cartons of cigarettes. The side effects can be unpleasant, but not horrible.
We both feel great! Good luck!!
addendum: We do get an occasional MILD urge for a cigarette. We use Dum Dum suckers for a substitute.

Try cutting down first. Thats what i did. And then i stopped smoking at my favorite times. Such as after eating. Or drinking. I started smoking Silk Cut blue. There weaker on Tar, Nicotine and everything.
Then I just kept trying and trying and then eventually i gave up.
It took me six months to finally give up.
Just don't give up. And its all about getting throught the first 1 or 2 days and thats it. Good Luck

Be careful. Chantix has been linked to some disturbing side effects. Never, never consume alcohol while using it. the symptoms are 10 fold and can cause to you be reclusive, psycotic, have disturbing dreams, thoughts of suicide, and other horrible effects. Be careful and discuss with your doctor before starting chantix. I tried Wel-butrin for a week. I just had to change my mind set. I quite for about 5 months (i know i should have never started back) but I had a goal in my mind that was important and about to start it again. My daughter was ill with a cold that would worsen get better and worsen again. i quite because of her and because she was getting sick. 7 week long cold symptoms. After I quite she cleared up finaly and wasn't sick that whole 5 month period. I'm about to do it again because cold and flu season is comming up again. i started back only because i thought i could handle being a social smoker. everyone around me smokes and it's hard. I think you have to find a reason that is important enough to make you quite and just do it. fight through the first week, stay away from smokers for about a month and try to get it out of your mind. Good luck!

There are a lot of options nowadays. There are lollipops that you use when you want a cigarette. They have nicotine, but not as much as cigarettes. There's also the patch, hypnosis, accupuncture. You'll have to try them to find out which one works best for you. The lollipops have to be prescribed by a doctor. Probably the most important thing is that you must really want to quit. Having someone who will encourage you will help a lot.

I'm assuming that you are asking, "what do I do to stop smoking", is that correct? If it is then I recommend the Chantix program! It has worked for me and my significant other and we both have smoked for well over 45 years!

If you're truly ready to quit, you can. I've seen countless people do it without the help of remedies or drugs.
Do they help? I am sure they help to a degree. But when someone is truly ready to do something, it can be accomplished on their own.
