Nope - the Book of Mormon talks of several peoples -- the Nephites & Lamanites were the sons of Lehi and warring families... but you also had the sons & daughters of Ishmael, the Jaredites [family & friends] , the Mulekites [and we don't know who all was included in this group]. And there is a possible implication in the final wars that the Lamanites were able to gather armies from other surrounding civilizations...
We Mormons love to debate whether there was one Hill Cumorah, two or possibly many -- we don't know. Just as we don't know where the ark of the covenant rests... just as we're not sure where Noah's arc rests... Mysteries are sure fun, huh?

Yes they changed the word from Principal to Among...now according to the online unabridged dictionary among means the following...
In the midst of; surrounded by: a pine tree among cedars.
In the group, number, or class of: She is among the wealthy.
In the company of; in association with: traveling among a group of tourists.

Where as Principal which is defined as..chief, first, foremost

The reason why they did this?

The DNA proof against what the book of mormon says is overwhelming and could no longer be ignored. Since no other religion professes to use the book of mormon they can change add or subtract whenever they want. Try to hit a moving target.

I have relatives who are Mormons and they just don't want to talk about it.

You know who's always changing again? Scientists. These crazy mad men are constantly updating their beliefs in the face of new evidence. They used to believe the world was flat, that blacks were inferior, that the sun revolved around the earth. I think it's absolutely ridiculous when please learn new things and consequently change their world view. We should all stay the same as we were when we were 3 years old.

Regarding the specific change you mentioned, it was not a change to the Book of Mormon, but to the introduction to the Book of Mormon, which was written in the ~1980s.

They think they are smooth. That really burns me. They have changed their doctrine which states that all American Indians descended from the Jews because of this new evidence.

In this clip it states that they have done DNA tests on the American Indians and just as scientists thought, they are NOT descended from the Jews, they are all descended from Asians! By changing "they are the principle ancestors" to "they are AMONG the ancestors" they are trying to slither around their own lie and blunder. Any religion that changes their doctrine like that, especially the doctrine of their founding prophet is a false religion and so is their prophet a false prophet. They are just trying to cover that up.

Not changing, just updating. Nothing IN the Book of Mormon is changing.

Mormons are ever-learning. As God revealed the Book of Mormon, many more things will be revealed. According to the Prophet Joseph Smith. These are great days!

Every time a fact emerges about the LDS organization, it changes in order to keep it's doctrine concealed.

God's Word tells us that nothing is hidden by God. Unfortunately, the LDS organization doesn't know God or His Word.

One thing we know for certain, God NEVER changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Only those who have been deceived by false religions, with doctrines that keep changing, don't see that.

God bless!

Polygamy was unpopular and embarrassing them so they changed it...

Racism was unpopular and making them look hateful so they changed it...

Evidence had proved no connection to J.S. story and Native Americans, which is undoubtedly embarrassing, so they changed it...

My guess is the next change will be to change the BOM so it wasn't Hebrews who came to the Americas....

Archeology continues to prove the Bible but archeology continues to disprove Mormonism.

By the way: did you know they are working on correcting the "errors" in the Journal of Discourses"? The Journal of Discourses contains tons of embarrassing statements by former "prophets"- such as Joseph Smith claiming their were people on the moon that looked like Quakers.
