I pray like this, but not every night, maybe once a month:
"Dear Lord if you are real, then why not make it obvious. As of right now there is no good reason to even believe that you exist. We live in a world filled with lies, and deception. You can't expect us to believe in you based on absolutely no evidence. There are literally thousands of religions and mind manipulators waiting for their chance to indoctrinate fresh recruits and I am not going to be one of the people sucked into it. Unless you can give me a sign you exist- anything- move this coin I am looking at, make your face appear on a piece of paper, hell even make the wind blow my hair RIGHT NOW. If you do I will instantly believe you are real and never question you again. I don't think that is too much to ask. I don't want to go to hell, and there is no reason why you should send me to hell when I am telling you that I WANT to accept you into my life. All I'm asking for is just one tiny obvious sign that you are real. Is it too much to ask? Really? Otherwise I'm afraid I'm going to have to assume you are just as fake as the other gods that don't exist"
... And then nothing happens.

I'm not an atheist, but I think I've spotted a serious flaw in your argument. By turning the question around, assuming you are NOT an atheist, and that you DO pray to God at night, it logically follows that being able to pray to God is your reason for living.
I think that not even God would wish for that to be our sole purpose in life. That's why we have free will...so we can choose to do lots of different things with our lives. Just because my connection with my life is different from your connection to your life doesn't make mine meaningless.
And asking atheists what they pray for shows a critical lack of understanding in your argument. If you don't know the other side of your argument, you can't argue effectively.

I do not pray. I have every reason I need for living. I love my life. Sure some days are frustrating because of the BS life tosses at you but hey that's normal and I don't need a god to make it all worth doing day after day.
I am kind of sad for you. I can't imagine not wanting life unless there is a god and heaven to look forward to when you die.

You are coming from such a tunnelled perspective here. It is wonderful that you obviously have religion in your life, but not everyone does. Some of my best friends are strict Catholics but they never suggest that I am lacking something in my life. Not everyone can be the same and have the same values, thats what makes life so interesting. I am happy andfulfilled, my children are a joy and have incredibly good hearts. We give money to charity and to good causes, we think about other people and our actions, we just dont pray daily or go to church on a regular basis. Your attitude is frankly condescending

Don't pray since I stopped believing in God. My life didn't take a nose dive in anyway. Sorry, to hear you don't have a reason to live without faith in something that has no proof. Maybe that is what is making you so mean and cranky? Hope you find a real reason to live.

Its sad to hear that there are people out there who need some imaginary deity to give them a reason to live. And to answer your question, I don't pray because I'm happy and have everything I could possibly want already!

Okay, sorry to say, but from reading some of your recent questions, you seem to be quite a mean spirited person who seems to resent atheists. May I ask Why this is?
Okay, I know; I'm not an atheist, and I'm answering another of your questions directed towards atheists, but I felt it needed to be said.
And to answer your question, I will be praying that you learn to love and respect you fellow man regardless of faith.
