I wonder whether most of them follow their father's culture or Thai culture or are they Buddhists ? I have read somewhere that most mixed Thais ( with westerners ) were born out of wedlock is this true ?

I can't answer if they were born out of wedlock but every Thai I know, half Thai or all Thai pay respect to Buddha. I have to take my hat ofo to them as if they pass a temple or shrine they always clasp their hand hands and bow to earn some merit. The rest of the world could learn a lot from Asia I believe.

I teach at an international school in Bangkok. I have a lot of 'mixed' students. Most of them are more "Western" than Thai, but still speak Thai fluently. Most are very modern, and able to mix in both cultures, but (my opinion...) are very good looking. The genes mix very well.

Majority of them are Buddhist, even those born out of wedlock as their maternal side looks after them. Their western fathers were the one that flees and they are not likely to be Buddhist for sure.
