How would you pose a heavyset couple so that it flatters them. I'm being serious not joking...

I need some ideas because I was burned bad before by a photographer who called my fiance and I fat (ok we're not supermodels..but i would like them to look nice)

One of my favorite wedding shoots ever was a plus size bride, she was a great model with lovely features, and her images were among the best I have ever done She loved them, and so did I. . So not being a super model is fine, most people aren't!

For closer shots, take them from slightly above. That stretches the neck area a bit and makes the body fall away from the lens and appear smaller. Most people of any size, large or small, look better with their bodies angled toward the lens, subjects should always have a "front and back" shoulder, never a left and right. Wear darker colors for the engagement shoot, light makes the body look bigger. Don't wear tents or spandex, one makes a huge mass and the other accentuates every bulge.

Don't worry a lot about your size, a good photographer will have a few tricks to streamline your posing, and will capture such great expression that your images will sing. You are what you are, so go have a great engagement shoot! And congratulations.

**EDIT**
I just went to your wedding site, very nice! You are indeed a lovely couple, and you are getting married on my hubby's birthday. You are very pretty, your shots will be great, so don't stress! :-)

You are both beautiful so what you need to do is take pics in a position that you are comfortable. Usually angle shots - nothing straight on - A friend of mine - she's hevier and so is he - took lovely photos- I'll forward them to you to give you an idea or two when I get home.

I would take the shot from a side angle, not directly on. I would also make sure the shot was taken during sunrise or sunset so that the light does not overemphasize any weight issues. For even more security you could have the shot taken from a distance away to help reduce the size of the participants in contrast with their surroundings.

behind a wall or fence with the 2 of you turned slightly towards each other and from the chest up only(and i'm sure you're a beautiful couple regardless of weight!)
