Im using usg plus 3 lightweight joint compound, when i used it on my wall for the first coat after it dried it cracked everywhere like spiderwebs running through it. It also had alot of airbubbles i beleive to be caused by me mixing the compound in the mud pan after i pulled it from the bucket. Any help?

If it's cracking your putting it on to thick. You have to figure that you put a coat of mud then your tape and a then another coat of mud just enough to cover the tape. Then plan on 2-3 more coats to get it right. Making each pass wider than the last. If your putting the mud over previously painted surface your going to get some bubbles.

Plus 3 Joint Compound

You applied it too thick. Compound is put on with a thin layer, dry, sand, dust then repeat with another layer. The air bubbles will be squished out when you are smashing it with your trowl.

For now, sand down the damaged parts & dust it. Then apply a thinner layer on the sections needing repair.

I'm no expert, but I sought expert advice and a lot of practice. It can be a pain in the buns, but my walls turned out better than the one room I had hired done. I wasn't going to be professional & didn't HAVE to learn how to use proper tools. I found a pancake turner or pie spatula (without holes) that was easier for me to handle. I mixed the compound in an ice cream bucket and put my 'handling' amount in a bread pan from the dollar store.

Just a couple of suggestions...the compound may have been mixed incorrectly with too much water or it was applied too thickly. Thin coats work much better.
I'm not a pro, but I have put up a lot of drywall.

Remixing it in the mudpan is a good idea. I always do it. I think you are applying too thick or it is drying too fast. This is what usually causes cracking.
