tea is a diuretic which means it passes through your body quickly taking water with it!
It gives the appearance of losing weight when in fact the weight that is being lost is water!! If i were you i'd drink cordial or like someone else said try some lemon in water!
Good luck!

Sorry, it doesn't work that way...

You need to reduce your caloric intake, and increase your exercise level.

Excessive water consumption will simply cause your body to pee away (literally) valuable minerables and vitamins. Some of the vitamins and minerals that the body most needs are water soluable.

Incidentally, while taregted exercises don't work as advertised, targeting your abs will provide you with a firm base, so you will *help* to reduce a "pooch" from non-flab sources (i.e.: your organs pushing against the abdominal wall, etc). If you have ever yo-yo dieted, the bulge at the belt could be from a build-up of adipose tissue above the muscles, or on the organs of the abdomen.

In any case...certain types of tea actually do have some health benefits, and even though (some) have twice the caffine of coffee, the body deals with the caffine differently for some reason, so the tea (generally) has less of an impact than the coffee.

One last note to keep in mind...a half litre of soda has approximately 10tsps of sugar in it. Most juices are also heavily sugared as well.

On the diet front...
So-called "Detox Diets" are one of the more dangerous forms of diets out there, and regardless of what anyone claims...THEY DON'T WORK. Keep in mind that "Diet" is something you live, not something you go on to loose weight.

I don't like water either for the same reason. I drink caffeine-free peppermint tea and add a bit of artificial sweetner.

By the way, it is not true that in order to get a flat stomach, you have to drink lots of water.
In order to get a flat stomach, you have to reduce the layer of fat that covers the muscles. In some people (mostly women), the muscles stretch out after pregnancy and they can exercise or eat/drink whatever they want to until they're blue in the face and it won't bring the muscles back to their prior state. Ask a surgeon sometime and they'll tell you.

You should lay off the soda and the juice though, or account for those calories when you look at your total daily consumption. Aside the fact that soda contains refined sugar and juice contains fruit sugar (aka they're high in calories), that sugar also ruins your teeth because not all of it can be brushed away, esp. between the teeth.

If you like your juice, consider filling a glass with half juice and half water, but do get rid of the soda altogether. It has zero nutritional value.

The problem with the juice and sodas is they contain sugar, and you are just having senseless calories by drinking those kind of drinks exclusively. You could try carrying a bottle of water all day and sipping from it slowly all day long. Or, there are powders and flavors that you can add to water now that are Sugar Free (use artificial sweeteners) and therefore, no calories.

I will say though that I used to dislike water too, but the more you drink the more you will start liking it and stop craving your sugary drinks.

I actually heard recently that the whole water to lose weight thing is a myth. I think I may have heard it from Dr. Oz on Oprah, actually. I think the water just does a better job of keeping you fuller longer so you don't want to eat. Juice and sodas definitely wouldn't help because of the sugar. Tea is good for you anyway, depending on the type and if you add anything to it. I've seen some teas that are supposed to help control your hunger too, like "weight management" herbal teas, but if you look at the side, you ahve to drink like 4 cups a day.

Tea would be good or they have the crystal light packets that you can put in your water which is what I drink a lot of since I totally cut out pop. If you are going to drink just make sure you read the label some of those can have just as much sugar as soda. Get 100% natural juice if possible.

You need to have half water and half something else. For instance if you drink 20 oz of water with lemon in it then drink 20 oz of decaffinated ice tea, I personally love the Crystal Light drinks (raspberry tea is my absolute favorite). Aquafina has a flavored water out now too. I get it in raspberry or mixed berry. Check out the drink isle where your water is and also some of the soda machines have it in there too.

Drinking lots of water, or beer, or Gatorade for that matter is not going to give you a flat tummy.. To get that, first you need a diet that will eliminate excess body fat, and then perform exercises like sit-ups, crunches, or aerobic dancing that will tone the abdominal muscles. If you desire a "six-pack", you'll most certainly require weight training and a very rigid and thorough regimen. But drinking a lot of water won't do crap.

GREEN TEA

Its even better than water in this case. Green tea has been proven to help weight loss. And if you want that tummy to get flat you need to lose a little flub over those ab muscles.

Also, its extremely good for you in pretty much every way, its like super water.

No liquid that i know of will change your body shape or weight. Good old exercise can. Sit ups would be a good start, doing 10 a day to start off with, increasing by 5 or 10 each day.

Cutting out choccies and junk food will help too. There is no quick fix solution.
