I'm considering hiring a planner/co-ordinator for my wedding. What are the general rates/comissions to expect?

It depends on what you want the wedding planner to do. You can do just the wedding day (thats usually about a grand), You can do where they do some of the stuff but still leave a lot up to you (thats about 2k) and than you have a full package and they do whatever you want, unlimited meetings, they go to dress fitting, help the mothers find outfits, stuff like that (this is somewhere between 2500-3500)

I got the full package from my wedding planner. They are WONDERFUL. if you live in the houston area I totally reccoment Houston Counture Events. Heather and Christi are the BEST!!

Each Wedding Planner will charge you based on various aspects: 1) A Consulting Wedding Planner is there only if you are looking for a idea or 2 or some assistance in minor areas. Then you will be charged hourly. 2) If you want someone for the day only because you have taken care of all the details and want someone to follow what you have set out, then that would be about $600-$900. And that may also cover an assistant, their meal at the wedding & possibly transportation. 3) A full wedding Coordinator/Planner will be between 10-15% of your budget for the wedding. I hope that assists you in the answer.

Usually 10-15% of you wedding budget but a lot of planners also offer package deals. You pay them for what you really need them to do. Do you need start to finish planning or just day of services , that will make the difference in price. Check into planners that offer flat fee rates an ala carte services that way you pay for the services you really need them for.

Good Luck and Congratulations

It all depends on where you live, who you choose in your area and what they do for you. Some do everything for you ($1000) from start to finish. Some just do that day and rehearsal ($350). Some just do whenever you need them ($60-$75 per hour). These prices are just a few figures I received from the planners in the Philadelphia area. Hope this helps.

depends on exactly what you want.. they have all different packages.. i am a planner myself so all i need is someone to be there the day of to coordinate things.. that costed me 1500.. she will start 30 days before the wedding to get in contact with all my vendors and make sure things are all in order.. and also help at the rehearsal.. then she will be there the day of to make sure everything is going good!

Usally 10-15% of the wedding budget depending on how much work they have to do.

I think it depends on how much they do for you, but can be up to 10% of the total cost of your wedding. Have fun anyway - I planned my own and really enjoyed being in control.
