In that case, yes, it is illegal. He should try not being a deadbeat, & breaking the law. If he got his brother in trouble, I would make sure he was caught.

This reminds me of a day dream I had while driving in the country far from home.
I was in a good mood and I kinda imagined a movie plot.
I imagined instinctively pulling up to a big mansion, just to see closer, and a woman roughly my age rushed to me and gave me a hug.
Nothing weird, I imagined the long lost brother was missing for the last parent's funneral, and it had been so long since she saw her brother that she thought I was him!
Imagine the set up. Helping a broken family to greive. Inheriting a seat on the board of a huge family owned corporation.
I thought I might write it as a script some day. Police complications may create some good tension.
It occurs to me the imposter gets found out, but by then the sister loves him, and makes him a real family member by marrying him!

Absolutely! It is illegal, a felony, to knowingly provide false and untrue information to a law enforcement officer. Your friend now has more to worry about than nonpayment of childsupport. That could have been resolved without jail time, but now he will have felony warrants for his arrest. STUPID!

Its not legal but its done all the time. I'm surprised that the police didnt ask for a picture ID. Your friend would be much better off to quit trying to duck a child support order and just be a responsible father and take care of his child.

I know somebody on probation for that. Guess that means yes. Also the ticket goes on his brothers driving record , so now his loosership is becoming his brothers problem. Illegal and immoral. You need to pick better friends before he screws you over too.

Have your friend sell his car and pay his child support.
Also, consider getting a better class of friends. Deadbeat dads who impersonate others can only lead to disaster.

in my opinion it is illeagle, even if it is for the smallest of things. my sister in law did that to me, saying she was me to the child support office. see my daughter was in jail because she owed back child suppoert. my sister in law went and impersonated me to pay the cash bond for my daughter. childsupport officials asummed that tina was me. , well they were wrong. what can i do about this?
