Richard Petty thinks by moving from Level Cross, NC to Mooresville, NC a distance of about 50 to 60 miles, will help his team win races. Personally, I think it's the equipment, who's on the team and the driver thats in the car that wins you races right? What do ya'll think?

RCR is proof you don't need to be in Mooresville to be successful. I don't think it's the right thing to do, but it's done. Petty Enterprises moving out of Level Cross is not a good thing.

Moving to Mooresville ? It's about time !!! At least then if they get a wrinkled up fender or something like that, they, could then go across the street, and borrow a english wheel from another team !! Some teams dont mind giving a helping hand
Even though the hand may be ''SMALL'' little things could mean 3/10 of a second. You can pick that up over a lunch conversation, with another team member. Good-Luck to'em !!!

I agree with you, what good will moving do if you have all the same people and equipment? First thing Petty Enterprises should do is kick Kyle out of the drivers seat. He's a cool guy and a real ambassador to the sport, but he's a sub par driver and has been all his career. Second, they need a great general manager for the company, otherwise they will always remain a 2nd rate team.

The Petty organization is a very classy group right from the King on down. The move is more to try and get more into the middle of what is happening there. Lets face it most of teams are already located right there and it certainly doesn't hurt the Petty organization at all!

It will help them in some aspects but I agree Carolina they are far behind the other Dodge teams--I dont know why but they need some Young Blooded New Drivers to come in their and get up on the wheel and Drive. They could use some new Crew Chiefs who can make the Set Ups better to get a better qualifying run--and start in the top 5 or 10 and stay out of mid pack wrecks!!!!

Thats exactly why he is moving his operation. Mooresville is a major hub not only for race teams, but for all the different companies they purchase and get support from. By moving closer, they avail themselves to the vast number of talented people in racing who live in that area. They will also be closer to the other Dodge teams with Penske located in Mooresville, Ganassi in nearby Concord, and Gillette-Evernham just a few miles north in Statesville.

Charlotte is the epicenter of Nascar. Moving there will not merit overnight success, but might may the Petty Organization more competitive for recruiting personnel that can contribute to a winning organization.

You are correct to a degree and mostly it has to do with equipment, the driver they have in Bobby LaBonte is a good choice at least to me it is he is a good solid driver and will push his ride to the limit. I think that the Petty's need to get Dodge more involved in their role with them after all it was King Richard that gave Dodge their dominance in racing any way.

I would say networking in racing is the single most important aspect. Good equipment, personel and drivers come thru networking. This is something Petty should have done 10 years ago.

Bobby Labonte is a good veteran drive who needs 1 or 2 young drivers to help each other. Kyle needs to retire, and they need to spend money on engineering and development on the cars. Petty Enterprises will not compete, much less win, until they get out of the 70's.
